What a great turn out for the police escorted ride from Diamond Creek
to Hurstbridge and back! There were at least 300 cyclists, including
many children. Most children rode alone, some on "alley cats", a few
in child seats, there was even a dog in a basket, and a super bike with
a motor for the vertical inclines! The ride was organised by The
Peter Brock Foundation, with assistance from newly formed Nillumbug!
The ride was organised primarily to raise awareness for the need for a
cycle/walk path between Diamond Creek and Hurstbridge. The ride was
also a fund raiser for the path, as well as a fun thing to do on a cool
autumn morning. The local member of parliament, Danielle Green, joined
in the cycle, and announced her support for the proposed bicycle path.
The local CFA helped with traffic control at a busy round-a-bout along
the way.
Go Nillumbuggers!
