Bicycle Advisory Committees   Message List

I am a member of the Boroondara Bicycle User Group. At present we do not have a bicycle advisory committee in Boroondara, or any other formal mechanism for BUG input into Council decisions on cycling matters. We do have quite cordial relations with the Traffic and Transport staff and have irregular meetings with them. Action has been taken on a number of matters we have raised with them although sometimes this has required repeated follow-up. However we are not necessarily consulted before projects relating to cycling facilities are initiated although we are sometimes invited to become involved at a later stage.

I would be interested to hear the about the experiences views of other BUG members on the most effective way for BUGs to interact with councils to achieve the best outcomes for cycling in the local area.
