Hello everyone,
Although it is cold and snowing, yesterday it was quite nice - mild & sunny.
I visited the track yesterday. It looks great. Surface looks great.
Should be pretty easy to open it up to riding.
I am scheduling our first work day as April 9th. 10am.
Getting the tent covers and infield chairs, reattaching some loose lattace
sheets,
touching up the surface, marking the lines, general clean -up.
Our major project is sanding and painting the apron.
We should be able to ride later in the afternoon.
The next two saturdays will also be work days with riding in the afternoon.
Open to the public riding is slated for the first week of May.
Remember, new this year is our emphasis on the USA Cycling National Qualifier
Race to
be held on June 11 & 12 - Kilo, 500m, Pursuit, Team Pursuit, Sprints
June 19th - Scratch, Keirin, Points.
The Wednesday Night and Saturday Afternoon races will feature all of the
National Qualifier events as preparation for the National Qualifier. And due to
popular demand we will begin the Madison practices earlier this year.
NAS-TRACK Team Racing starts on Friday Night June 24th, 7pm. and continues
for the next five Friday Nights. The sixth race is the NAS-TRACK
CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The Detroit 6 Day is August 9 - 14th.
and more after that.
Our facility improvement goals are lights by the first NAS-TRACK race.
Touring rider Bill Stimpson just finished our electrical layout.
Ray Electric is working on the material costs.
It will be real fun to ride, race and watch under the lights.
We also need to paint the undercarriage of the track this summer.
This should not be put off for another year.
I know I am lookiing forward to another terrific season at the TRACK.
See ya at the track,
