Lilly Smalley "Official Starter" of NAS-TRACK RACE #4
Rochester Hills, Michigan -- Team bike racing is please to announce that
"The Womens Fund's Mrs. Lilly Smalley will be the "Official Starter" as
NAS -TRACK Team Racing continues at 7 p.m., July 16 at the Velodrome at
Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
NAS-TRACK Team Racing features the Madison Team Race where two-rider
teams exchange places throughout the race -- one 50 laps, another 100, which
produces fast, frenzied, elbow-to-elbow competition all night long. The
Madison
was invented in NYC’s Madison Square Gardens in 1899 but was only recently
noticed worldwide when introduced into the 2000 Olympics. NAS-TRACK emerged
in
2001 to bring it onto the American sports scene.
NAS-TRACK Team Racing is also televised Saturday Night at 11 p.m. on PBS-DPTV
Channel 56.
Eight two-rider teams hit the 1/8th of a mile wooden oval for 90 minutes
of no-holds-barred competition. Admission is $3; 18 and under are free.
