Heres a boys update. In yesterdays game Thornton beat Massabesic 4-1. Sam Dussault (U-12 & U-13 Boys 03 & 04) scored as did Josh Lombard (U-14 05-06) for TA. Jon Mercier (U-15 04-05) scored for Massabesic.

Both Travis Desjardins (U-13 04) and Alec Luro (U-14 05-06) have assisted on goals in prior games. The four sophomores on TA are getting quality playing time and contributing to the program. Two other freshman are on the Varsity team. Max O'Neil (U-13 04) and Christian Letourneau (U-14 05-06) have seen a good amount of field time with each of them starting a number of games this season.

I was in Sanford the other night to watch the game. Tough night on the scoreboard but watching you on the field gave me goose bumps. It has been fun watching them for the last few years. They should be proud of their accomplishments so far and I wish all the girls good luck in the remainder of the season.

Sarah Alexandre,(U-16), scored for Sanford as they defeated South
Portland 5-3. Sanford continues on undefeated,10-0-0, and moves to the
top of the Heal points in Class A West. Next Wednesday Sanford host
the only other undefeated, united Class A team, Gorham.

Lauren Metcalf (U-16) scored for Massabesic as they tied Kennebunk
yesterday 2-2. Sarah Pingree(U-16) scored the only goal to lead
Sacopee Valley to a 1-0 win over Old Orchard Beach. According to the
Portland Press " the Sacopee defense, keyed by sweeper Vanessa Stacey
(U-18),allowed OOB only 3 shots on goal.

Kesley Vachon, Jen DeZeno, and Emma Burnett each scored a goal as
Sanford (at least 9 Velocity players) beat Deering 3-0. With this win
Sanford is back on top of the Heal points with a slight edge over
Gorham.

Lauren Metcalf, (U15, 2005 -06), was named as one of the "players to
watch" in today's (9/8/06) Portland Press Herald's annual girls high
school soccer preview. I believe this honor is the first for a Velocity
player. Lauren is also the daughter of Rick Metcalf, coach of the
Velocity U15 girls team.

The site listed below will let you see sports schedules for any high
school that subscribes to their site. You can type in your school and
see the entire season schedule or you can select the conference and
see all who play on a given day.

If you should have trouble viewing the schedule check and see if

Congrats to Kelsey Vachon for being selected as one of the captains for
the 2006 Sanford High girls soccer team. Kelsey has been a member of
the Velocity U-15, U-16, and U-17 girls team, 2003 - 2006.

The U-17 2005/06 girls team had players from 8 different high schools.
So far 2 have been selected captains of their high school team, or 25%.
This says a lot for the girls, their team, and the coaching.
