As of May 8th, FORA officially owns the ESCA properties. The ESCA Safety
Access Corridor system is in place at is time.
FOR THE WEEKS OF JULY 19TH and 26th –
Safety Access Corridors have been established through the ESCA parcels
and signs are posted to help guide you safely to the BLM recreational
areas. For your safety stay on paved roads, respect work area signage,
and maintain posted speed limits, to prevent accidental contact with
workers and equipment.
Please see the information kiosks at major access points or the ESCA web
site for information and maps.
ESCA field crews are working south of Gigling Road, west of Watkins
Gate, north of Hay Rake Road and east of 8th Avenue. Crews are
conducting a surface investigation for Munitions and Explosives of Concern.
Field crews have removed vegetation on a 17-acre area south of
Intergarrison Road and east of 8th Avenue to confirm the quality of
previous munitions/explosives cleanup work.
Upcoming events and meetings:
Wednesday, July 29th: Monthly Users Working Group Meeting from 12 noon
to 1 p.m. in “The Barn” at FORA, 100 12th Street, Marina.
Saturday, August 15th: The Fort Ord Environmental Cleanup Program and
FORA ESCA RP will be staffing a tent at the Monterey County Fair from 12
noon until 11 p.m. at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey. Call
