The whole proprioperception aspect of fitness training is new to me, but I find
it great fun. It seems to be that, like body building, gains are made between
training sessions.
Can someone help with a problem relating to the gym ball which is never
addressed in the How To guides? They show you guys lifting weights while
balanced on gym balls, but they never mention how you're supposed to get on -
and more importantly - off the ball afterwards.
After attempting rather ungainly (and potentially injurious) exits while still
holding the weights, I've now begun lowering the weights alternately to the
floor first, then leaving the ball. This seems much more decorious and safe. But
has anyone discovered another way?

Proprioception - sounds great, doesn't it? Just the thing to slip into dinner-party conversations. Essentially, though, it's a posh word for mind-body balance....

I'm not a great fan of the old swiss ball for weights, but I have been thinking about this. I've had an idea for an alternative to the whole lifting weight on...
You're on the ball again, Pete. (Pardon the pun.) I've yet to get round to resistance bands, mainly because I'm very happy with my dumbbells, but also -...
Hi John You could use your bullworker as well as the bands or a old fashion chest expander with springs, which you can add more springs as your strength...
Actually that's a point Mark, you could use those fancy new chest expanders that use surgical tubes (like ironmind fabled cables www.ironmind.com ) they'd work...
Most of my training as a callow youth was done with chest expanders. I still bear the scars of where the handle slipped from under my foot and sprung up to...
Hi John Glad I wasn't the only one to have suffered from chest expander wounds. As it happens I've just done my chest work out and my muscle are still ...
We must compare scars one day, Mark. I usually work out late afternoon: apparently, your muscles are supposed to be less prone to strain then. I'm (gulp) fifty...

You can increase resistance (to an extend) by wrapping the bands around your hands, but then you need thicker sets as time goes on (although the thinner minis...
I guess i'm prolly stating the obvious, but one advantage to the bands is that much like cable excercises, they apply resistance through the entire motion,...
Hi pete Triple bodyweight for Squats! Most impressed, best I've done is at 85kg bw 165kg for two reps. I wish I could squat triple my bodyweight at the moment...
As I said, more a "bob" than a squat (laughable rather than legal depth :-). Going to work on lowering over the spring/summer, got to fathom some system to do...
