Starting this week, we're moving the sparring classes from Friday nights
to Saturday afternoons at 2pm, immediately following the regular class.
As always, don't forget to bring your fist gear, mouthguard, and other
equipment.
Interested in learning sparring but worried 'cause you haven't done it
before? No worries, c'mon out next Saturday and we'll get you started.
Train hard.

Hi everyone.
I would just like to remind you all that you have
until the end of January to pay your membership in the
karate club with the Athletic Centre. I received a
list today of the club members, and some people that I
have seen in class are not on it! Please pay as soon
as possible. If you have not paid by the end of
January then you will not be allowed to train until
you are fully paid up. If you have any questions or
concerns please contact me.
Thanks very much,
Charlotte

Steven.
Just a reminder that Friday night sparring classes will resume this
upcoming Friday, January 23rd. There won't be any sparring class the
following week since the regular class is cancelled, so the next class
after that will be on February 6th, and then every Friday after that.
As usual, you'll need to make sure you have the proper equipment: a
mouthguard, fist gear, etc.
See you there.

After the first workout you will be able to access the locker rooms.

Happy New Year Everyone!
I had a chance to update the website over the holidays with photos
from past events and tournaments. With Kagami Biraki coming up soon
you may be interested in taking a look at some of the pictures from
previous Kagamis.
You can get to our site through our new 'official' URL:
http://www.fpeh-utoronto.com/~karate
Which actually just links to where the bulk of our site has
always been located:
http://www.jinbukai.org/utkc/main
From there just go to the 'Events' and 'Tournaments' sections
and follow the 'Past Events/Tournaments' links. You may also
want to take a look at the reformatted Kata Video area in the
'Training' section.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed photos over the years.
Enjoy!

Just a reminder to everyone that to access the Hart House athletic facilities you
need to present your AC membership card at the Porter's Desk where they will
issue you a guest pass. You will need to bring your own towel and lock.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hello to everyone and thanks to all who responded. It looks like we only have a
couple of takers for tomorrow (Tues.) and Wednesday, but Friday (the 26th) and
Monday (the 29th) seem to be good days for a bunch of you. I will confirm with
Sensei tomorrow, but I believe we'll aim for those two dates. Next Tuesday was
also a possibility for some of you so again, I'll double check with Sensei and
post a definite answer tomorrow.
Lori
Hello Everyone,
With regards to training at Hart House over the holidays, I spoke to Katerina
at the Porter's desk this morning. Apparently, the booking desk is already
closed for the break, although their message does not indicate this. There are
three rooms available to use, one with mats. Although we can not officially
book these rooms at this point, we may meet there and do some training
together.
Tominaga Sensei is availabe to teach us this week on Tuesday, the 23rd,
Wednesday, the 24th, and Friday the 26th at 2:00. Hart House closes at 5:00,
except on Wednesday, which is 4:00.
Next week, we could meet on Monday, the 29th and Tuesday the 30th at the same
time.
If you can make any of these sessions, please email me TODAY so that I can let
Sensei know and send out another general email for everyone, confirming when we
can meet.
One last thing, if we are able to train, Sensei suggests that we go out for a
bowl of hot soup together afterwards:)
Let me know asap.
Thanks,
Lori
There is definitely class tonight from 9:00 to 10:45 pm. The location will either be in the Dance Studio or the Fencing Salle. The AC thinks that the Fencing Club "might" have a practice tonight. They can't give me a definite answer till later today, but I'm sending out the email now before it gets too close to class. Show up to the Fencing Salle first, if it is occupied at 9:00pm please move up to the Dance Studio. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I am really really sorry for what happened on Saturday. For the people that showed up, sorry for the inconvenience. I have triple-checked with various "departments" within the Athletic Centre and tomorrow night's class will start as regularly scheduled. There are changes to the Wednesday and Friday classes. Please see below
Practice Times:
Wednesday December 17, 2003 9-10:45 PM. Fencing Salle (AC closes at 11:00pm) Friday December 19, 2003 7-8:45 PM Fencing Salle (AC closes at 9:00pm) Saturday December 20, 2003 12-2 PM Upper Gym (we have the gym till 3pm)
Hi All,
I just confirmed this with Hart House for my own interest and
thought I'd pass it along to everyone else.
If you have a valid AC membership (alumni, community, student...)
you're actually allowed to use Hart House's athletic facilities
between Dec 22nd and Jan 2nd when the AC is closed. This also
includes holidays (Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's) for anyone
really inclined to work out on those days.
Just present your AC membership card at the Hart House Porter's
Desk and they'll issue you with a pass to use the athletic
facility. You'll need to bring your own towel and lock.
So if you're looking for a place to work out while the AC is
closed and our classes are on hold, keep Hart House in mind.
Thanks,
Gary Chan
