Hi All,
This is the suggested 'What To Bring To Spring Camp' checklist (Thanks
Gary).
For all you veterans of Spring Camp this is probably all old news, but all
our
camp novices may find this information useful.
So here's the list of handy items you may want to bring:
- as many gi's as you can carry
- coat hangers to hang gi's up for drying
- warm and comfortable clothing (sweat shirts, track pants, t-shirts etc);
remember it may still be chilly that weekend
- toothbrush, toothpaste and other personal toiletries you can't live
without (deodorant is always a good thing)
- biodegradable soap/shampoo
- water bottle
- running shoes
- towels
- sleeping bag/blankets, pillow
- games/cards/books for when we're not training, or eating...
- aspirin/tylenol/advil - whatever works for you, you may need it
- tensor bandages if you think you're going to need them and/or sports tape
(the club is not responsible for providing sports tape for everyone - it
is there for emergency use only)
- flashlight for the evening
And some other general tips:
1. There are washrooms/toilets/running water but no showers. Water comes
from a well system so please try to conserve water. Using baby wipes to
clean yourself off is one way to save water, as is using a squeeze bottle as
a
modified shower if you're taking a sponge bath.
2. The main house is where we will be staying. There are two main rooms
upstairs (one with bunk beds) and beds/mattresses are available on a first
come first served basis. There is also space on the main floor for people to
stake out a spot to sleep.
3. Note that Hart House Farm is an open facility so it's possible people
other than us may be staying there. Remember to exercise common sense with
your valuables and belongings.
4. Meal/Clean-Up crews: Everyone attending camp will need to be on one meal
crew (preparing breakfast, lunch, or dinner) and one meal clean-up crew
(washing dishes/pots, sweeping, mopping, etc, afterwards). If you haven't
signed up for a meal and clean-up crew yet please check with me
5. For people who are arriving on Friday afternoon/evening, please be aware
that
there are no meals being prepared that evening so you can either bring your
own
dinner to prepare, eat before you arrive, or drive to Brampton, which is
about a
20 minute drive from camp, to get something.
