INTERMEDIATE/BLACK BELT TEAM KATA
1st ¡V Christian A., Dominic C., Jane H.

A special commendation goes to the team (Christian A.,
Dominic C., Lisa D.) that participated in the new team
kumite event this year. Being the only kyu-belt team
that was brave enough to challenge the elite kumite
fighters not only earned the respect from our
opponents but also from the crowd. During the first
round of competition the ¡¥U of T Team¡¦ was easily
outgunned by the ¡¥Murayama Team¡¦, led by the
several-time Pan-Am champion Alonso Murayama. Although
the team was eliminated in the first round but it was
nonetheless a rewarding experience. We look forward in
meeting them again next year.
