Hi everyone,

We encourage everyone to train hard with good effort and often, for this is how we may strive for improvement. That being said, proper training also require an awareness, knowledge and responsibility for our own health and safety. Everyone should be aware of the health and safety policies in our club. It is not only common sense, but also essential in any physical training. Recent events dictate that I ensure everyone be aware.

If ever a situation arise, all our instructors are trained in first-aid, ready to assist if required. Furthermore, the Athletic Centre staff are all available to help out also. We also have a first-aid kit available at each class if anyone needs anything from it and we ensure that it is fully stocked all the time. But beyond that, each and every member that trains in our club needs to be responsible for their own health and safety as well. No one knows your own personal health and physical limits better than yourself. With that in mind, here are some things that everyone should always keep in mind:

- if you have any physical ailments (ie: twisted ankle) or health conditions (ie: asthma), please make sure that the lead instructor is made aware of this.
- if you do have any physical or health conditions that affect your training, know what your own limits are and don't push it too hard.
- if you do start feeling pain or any other extreme health-related condition, please stop and rest. Let the instructor know if there is anything you need.
- if you're unsure if a particular training technique may cause harm due to a condition, either talk to the instructor first or just sit out.

Also, if you have not had a chance to do so before, please have a read through our club handbook . It details many of the proper etiquette, safety and other information that is important to our club.

Train hard and see you in class.

Peter
