Hi UTKC-ers!
I hope you all had a wonderful no-school snow day on Friday! I sure did!
This year UofT is hosting the annual Canadian Inter-University Karate Championships (hereby referred to as "Inter-U") on March 1, 2008 in the Upper Gym of the Athletic centre! A huuuggggeeee number of universities have been invited this year so I hope it turns out to be the best Inter-U ever!
The tournament is scheduled for 10:00am to 4:00pm! This is a wonderful opportunity for beginners because the tournament is very low key (compared to the craziness at Karate Ontario Tournaments) so we can go over the rules and answer questions during the tournament. If you are very very new (i.e. people who are in my karate instructional class), it is a wonderful exhibit to see how a karate tournament looks!
The cost is only $10 to compete in as many divisions as you want! i.e. kumite, kata, and "open" team kata (i.e. no belt/gender distinctions!)
Please sign up with me when/if you see me in class (my hand is better but organic chemistry mid-terms are looming over my shoulder!) or with Peter, Manki, or Jay. If you are not signing up with me, please let them know what division you will be competing in!
(note: black belts that want to compete should also sign up with me, as I really really really want to compete so I think I'm going to make a black belt division this time, although probably only a co-ed kata division as there are not many black belts to begin with)
Thanks everyone! Sign up in class!
-Johnny
