Tried to register for the new message board, didn't work.
Great sesh, although quite gusty. Powered 95% of the time on the 13m.
6 or 8 other kites on the water.
I've setup a new message board which is owned and operated by the UWA.
We don't have to deal with the Yahpp ads and its secure so it won't
get spammed like our last message board. I also have new domains for
the UWA.
The Message board is at www.utahwindriders.org/phpbb2
We also will have an all new web site coming to www.utahwindriders.com

new provo marina jetty looks to be windsurfer freindly!!!
look like a great new launch for windsurfers. no sharp rock no trees
very nice... looks like smooth water sailing inside the dikes...
kite surfing look like a little rocky but if you had a kite slave the
smooth water would be sweet...

Steady but cold North wind at both Rush and Utah lake.
Rush will probably be best in the AM, but should be planeable
all day in the 12-15/6.5-7.5 Meter range. MM19 should be similarly
nice and steady in the PM and SSB will get the good stuff about 3PM.
Stay warm out there, you'll be lucky to get 50 Degrees air temp.

Jared,
Looks like wind is coming your way. If I were you I would dress warm and go to
Utah Lake.
By the way, I sold my Underground Board to Vern. I need to get it from you
sometime soon.
Let me know what you think of the new Rapture. I am heading to Rush to avoid
the
nasal plague I always get from Utah Lake water.

If you want to ride in the rain, snow, anmd 40 degree air temps,
Rush and Utah lake will both deliver up planers in the 6.6-5.5 or
10-17 M range. Sunday actually looks better, with stronger North
wind, less rain, and 50 degree air temps. Tuesday looks like
the next day for warm south winds.

Today. Breezy. Mostly cloudy with numerous showers and isolated
thunderstorms. Highs around 60. Northwest winds 15-25 mph. Chance of
showers and thunderstorms 60 percent.

Looks like an AM Grantsville session, with small gear.
PM Windsurfers should look to DC or MM19 for some big gear planers,
Kite boarders can move over to Rush lake PM for rides.
Look for the PM winds to peak about 3 PM
-Craig
Maybe get a DC ride around 2 -3 PM with big gear, or
maybe a Kite ride at Rush around the same time on a 20 M.
Tomorrow looking windy and warm. Might be a good day to
call in sick as the rest of the week and weekend looks
rainy and cold.
-Craig
I'm a beginner looking for lessons in Provo area. I've got all the
equipment I need to start. I've been talking to Erik Lassen (Lassen
Custom Kiteboards) about who teaches. He referred me to this site.
He said that someone named Brian teaches. Can anyone get me in
contact with a teacher... Not necessarily looking for certified
teacher... My cell is 8017876548. Thanks
We are supposed to be in Seattle on Tuesday next week. Please bring up the issue at the meeting of MM19 being posted No Trespassing. I would be interested in a post on the message board if anyone knows what is happening.
Thanks, Ken

This is you President speaking and we are getting ready for a super year. We have water filling up our lakes, Criag is back with our forecasts, and we have our usual UWA spring activities scheduled.
Tuesday April 12th will be our Kick Off dinner at our usual Pizza place in Olympus Cove on the east bench of the Salt Lake City. I will post more details later this week.
Saturday Morning April 30 will be our SWAP meeting at Maclean Quality Composites in West Jordan.
Pass this on the other non-internet using wind addicts.
Utah Lake gave up some love at mile marker 19. Cindy and I rode 6.5 /
5.5 in the early afternoon. The water level is up from last season
but the H20 is still CHILLY!!!
Get yur fridgid sleet encructed rides at Rocky Point
and SSB today. Should be good for 5.5 or maybe a 10M
Kite, if you survive the cold and rain.
-Craig
Looks like good wind today. AM Grantsville for good 5.5
conditions. PM DeerCreek could be very strong, you might
even get 5.0 rides in gusty conditions up there, but go at
noon, because it'll get gustier as it gets later. Some
potential for mid 5 meter stuff at MM19, and 6.5 at SSB.
Rush looks really gusty.
-Craig
Good rides available this afternoon. Look to DeerCreek
for some PM rides in the 7.5-8.5 range as the clouds dissipate.
With air temps near 60 degress up there it's pretty tempting.
If ya gotta have it in the AM get to Grantsville, but
do it quick cauze it looks to die out ther in the PM.
Sunday looking pretty windy at DC (and a freezing Sulphur
Creek) also.
-Craig
Gotta add... This snow is unbelieveable huh! Wed at Solitude and
Thursday at Alta I inhaled more snow flakes than I ever have! Ok,
that's all I'll say about that... ;)
Well, I have a friend of mine who builds webpages and he had something
similar to this Craig and Emmanuel... However, it wasn't going to be
very inexpensive ($30 bucks a month and a one time fee of not too
small!). I have also, appreciated the yahoo board as a backup... But I
am very much opposed to advertisements... Maybe my parents beat me
with advertisements(kind of abstract there, sorry) as a kid!? Anyway,
I just think that more people will post if they don't have to worry
about the cookies, the ads, the relative confusion that accompanies
yahoo. At first I kind of liked that yahoo sent emails when somebody
posts but it got to be a little much when I had to delete like 50
emails after a trip (I know I can turn that option off). The email
thing isn't an issue to me. One thing I liked about the old board is
how simple it was. One thread to see all posts... We could always have
one of the threads be a chronological listing of ALL combined posts
from the various topic boards (it may already be that way. I need to
look at it again). Whatever, the case, we appreciate the time and
efforts... Craig, Emmanuel, Jared, Erik, etc... Thanks, RickH.
Granstville for big gear rides in the AM is about your only hope.
DC might give a planer or 2 in the PM. Sat looks planable and
almost warm at DC.
-Craig
From my angle, Mohave was a nice escape for the weekend... Kell and I
met the Dubocks, Southwicks, Dave O., Josh Shirley for some "Spring
Training" some early "spring scrimmaging". Those who arrived earlier
in the week got some light sailing in. I sailed friday and saturday,
one day all day from Cabisite and had some awesome rides. Nice warm
air. I guess around 75. Wind out of the north on Saturday was the
best. Quite a few kiters from California and Las Vegas were there. Not
too crowded though. At the campfire we had some nice belly rolling as
we all experienced an impromptu counselling/confession group session
for infomercial purchases we have all made in the past... I couldn't
hold it in anymore that I was waiting for my Jack Lalaine's Power
Juicer to come in the mail! After that everybody came out with it...
Ask Jim Southwick! His purchases make mine look like child's play! eg.
Chuck Norris/Kristie Brinkly exerciser machine... We had a great
time... OH... Except for going into town to watch the Utes get worked
over by Kentucky on Friday night! I'm excited for RUSH!!!
Strong wind everywhere. Best bet will be Rush, if you've
got a wave skeg and small cloth, I'll bet you can ride short fetches
with a lot of jibing. Kite boarders might want to get out something
very small. Get it early and avoid the rain/snow later in the day.
Good wind at Mona, and MM 19 also, until about 2PM when it's going to
turn North. Be prepared for the switch and a 10 degree temp drop
as the front passes. I'd be for geting off the water about 2 PM.
For the SSB types, it'll go north about 3 PM down there, but lightning
and rain would keep me off the water.
Stay warm out there,
-Craig
