Thought you might want to know about this change in sponsorship.
Sarah
Hello USDFBC Competition Management,
Cosequin is no longer a sponsor of the USDF Breeders’ Championship Series. Because of this development, USDF is asking all shows hosting USDFBC competitions to remove references of Cosequin from all prize lists, programs, and other printed material. However it is
not necessary to change documents that are already in print.
I will be mailing you any new paperwork, forms, and information regarding this change within the next week or so. Some of this paperwork may be required to be submitted back to USDF and the rest of it will be for the actual competition, i.e. PA Announcements, ect. I will also be sending you a general USDF banner instead of the Cosequin/USDFBC Banner; this banner must still be sent back the Monday after the competition as we have a limited amount of these that must be sent to all the Qualifiers. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Megan DeHart
Competitions Coordinator, All Breeds & Sport Horse

I am an eventer living in Springfield, MO. having moved here from the Connecticut/New York area. Sorry - I haven't read all these messages so I ask...where are you moving and how far are you willing to drive for an instructor?
I realize I'm going to be there in March, but I'll through this out there anyway. Before switching to dressage only, I competed in eventing through the preliminary level winning several Horse of The Year awards in N.C. in the Horse Trials and Combined test divisions . I'm also an L graduate having competed successfully through the I-1 level and trained through Grand Prix.

Dakota Dressage & Eventing and Cedar Ridge Equestrian Center in Renner, SD (just north of Sioux Falls, SD) are looking for an 'L' program graduate to hire to judge a schooling show on July 1, 2006. We would like the judge to stay over and teach a clinic the next day. Ideally, this person would also have some jumping or eventing experience, as riders would like to have some jumping classes, too.
If you are such a person or know someone you would recommend, please contact me (Sarah Patrick) at slp4mag@... or (605) 321-5713.
Thank you for your suggestions!
Cheers,
Sarah

By Susan Bavaria TCE Balastrana+++// (TC Expression x Brooklynn), owned by Mercy Burwell of Brentwood, MO, ranked as the top horse among a field of more than 3,000 Arabians, Half-Arabians and Anglo-Arabians to become the 2005 Arabian Horse Association (AHA) High-Point Horse. To reach this pinnacle, the mare accumulated 388 points in Horse
Achievement Awards (HAA), the Association’s premier rewards program for actively competing horses.
The Arabian horse industry is the only breed to honor horses with symbols that become a permanent part of a horse’s name. Achievement Award symbols are immediately recognized throughout the Arabian horse industry as a sign of honor and prestige. Horses earn points for competing and placing in halter, performance, competitive trail, endurance, eventing, Arabian racing, gymkhana and dressage.
High-Point Horse Awards sponsor, Equine Pro Tack, will award Burwell with a trophy saddle. AHA Corporate Partner Paint Rock Designs will provide Mane and Tail Saver Blankets for the Top Ten HAA winners.
TCE Balastrana+++//, aka Bally, completed her illustrious 2005 year in just under four months by competing in 34 open and amateur classes at Class A, regional and national shows, including training, first and second level dressage and sport horse mares in-hand. She earned four
Top Tens, two reserves and two championships at Sport Horse Nationals; five championships and two Top Fives at Regions 11 and 13; and numerous placings at the Abu All-Arabian Show, the Hoosier Horse Classic and the Illinois/Arab Inc. All Arabian Show.
At Youth Nationals, Kaylan Herbst and Mandy Bolanowski took four national championships with Bally in training and first level dressage. “The girls worked very hard to master her,” says Burwell.
Burwell credits her trainer of eight years, Kimberly Berkley of Dez-Rey Arabians in St. Louis, MO, with getting her and Bally to their current level. “I’m a first grade teacher, so I know that not everyone learns the same way,” says Burwell. “Kim understands this and works with each individual’s learning process. She’s one of the most patient trainers I’ve ever encountered.”
“Bally is an exceptional horse. We’re lucky to have her in the barn,” says Berkley. Another 2005 Top Ten winner in the HAA is also trained at
Dez-Rey Arabians. Vivacious Leigh+// (Focus Alimus x BA Baskala) owned by Meghan Braden of Collinsville, IL, earned 207 points.
Burwell plans to continue riding “many, many more dressage tests” and working toward third level. “It’s a long process, but one that I really enjoy,” she says. “One of my goals in life was to win a national championship. I have achieved far more than that, all because of my partnership with Bally.”
Registered horses may be enrolled in the HAA program for a one-time initial recording fee of $35. Thereafter, an annual renewal fee of $30 is required in order to receive points for that year.
A new owner may also enroll a horse and buy back points from prior years up to the Achievement Award level which that horse has earned. A new owner can find out if a horse has points that qualify for HAA by calling AHA at (303) 696-4500.
2005 Horse Achievement Award High Point Top Ten Standings 1. TCE Balastrana+++// (TC Expression x Brooklynn), Mercy Burwell, Brentwood, MO, 388 points 2. DA One Perfect Melody+++// (Mark One x Perfect Instrument), Jodie Surerus, La Glace, Alberta, 368 points 3. Njuepic++// (Hungarian Epic x Judawn), Jodie Surerus, La Glace, Alberta, 346.5 points 4. Touch of Vanity+// (RV Golden Vanity x Honky Tonk Special), Laura Wood, Brooksville, FL, 271.5 points 5. Serannada+// (Robby x Serana), Alice Jackson and Sandra Robinson, El Cajon, CA, 271.5 6. TBR Granite Chief+/ Earns Distance Horse of the Year Award Arabian horse TBR Granite Chief+/ (CF Sorcerer x MI Princessa), owned by Karen Chaton of Gardnerville, NV, has earned the 2005 Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Distance Horse of the Year Award.
The 10-year-old gelding was the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC) National Mileage Champion in 2004 with 2,135 miles and has captured that title again in 2005 with 2,245 miles. He has accumulated 4,835 lifetime miles to date and is the only Arabian horse in this century to cover more than 2,000 miles in a single ride season, which he did in both 2004 and 2005.
He also earned the 2004 XP Rides Horse of the Year Wendell Robie Trophy, which is awarded annually in memory of the founder of the Tevis Cup and the modern sport of endurance riding. Chief
completed all XP Rides in 2004 and 2005, covering 1,060 miles in three five-day/250-mile rides and two three-day/155-mile rides.
“I am so honored to receive this award. I think it is great that AHA is recognizing a distance horse that has excelled and not necessarily based on speed. I am very fortunate to have a horse like Chief. He is one of a kind,” says Chaton.
As the AHA Distance Horse of the Year, TBR Granite Chief+/ will have his name engraved on a perpetual trophy designed by Joe Staheli and donated by the Arabian Horse Owners Foundation (AHOF). Chaton will receive a plaque with a facsimile of the bronze sculpture.
The AHA Distance Horse of the Year Award recognizes significant accomplishments of an Arabian, Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian horse in the distance sports. Any AHA member can nominate a horse as long as it’s registered with AHA, the Canadian Arabian Horse Association or the Canadian Partbred Arabian Register.

update on the Clinic with Karen Robinson www.ApplauseDressage.com
I have paid deposits from multiple folks - we already have riders
from SD, ND & MN! :-)
There are a couple of spots left in the clinic for private rides --
if you are interested in a Quadrille (aka, group of 4 or more
riders, kind of like a drill team, way fun!!) but dont have
partners, please contact me!!! Riders of all levels can ride
quadrille!!! There is one quadrille group for sure, and it would
be wonderful to have a second Quadrille group... I know I have one
interested for sure, so would love to have a couple more :-)
VERY exciting time for auditors for this clinic -- we have people
riding at many levels - from the quadrille group to first level
individual freestyle, to Prix St George!!!!
I got the letter last night that we are approved for USDF
University credit -- for those of you that are not familiar with
it, USDF tracks learning sessions that you attend if they are
approved as a USDF U course, and you get certificates at different
levels (15 credits I think is the first one... a nice 'continuing
education' kind of thing!)
NOW IS THE TIME TO LET ME KNOW THAT YOU ARE PLANNING TO AUDIT. I'm
working on some meal options, etc, and need a head count. please
email me at JoannM@... to tell me!
IF YOU PLAN TO APPLY TO BE AN L PROGRAM PARTICIPANT this is a good
one to have on your resume!!! as you do need to show understanding
about free styles.
CROSSROADS HOTEL in Huron SD has rooms blocked out for us - mention
DDE when you make your reservation & get the special room rate of
$65 plus tax.
If you have questions, let me know! thanks!!!!

Hi everyone
I have a broodmare and a broodmare/jumping prospect (project
horse). I have been ill since December and just don't have the
strength anymore to take care of these horses. Priced low for quick
sale.
1. Trudy's Quack - 15.2h TB mare 1990 - produced Ceara, IDSH by RID
Mountain Pearl in 2004 - open for 2006. Can come with breeding to
16.1h Grey AQHA or breed again to a RID. Sweet temperament and easy
keeper. Asking $1500 or best reasonable offer.
2. DJs Last - 16h TB mare 2000. Excellent breeding! No time to ride
her. Unbelievable jumping potential, huge hind end - snaps up in
front. Experienced rider to bring her along or just breed her.
Asking $2000 or best reasonable offer.
No vices and both up to date on shots etc. Pictures can be seen at

USDF Schedules Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On April 21, the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the USDF National Education Center, which will house USDF's permanent headquarters and USDF Hall of Fame.
The organization's new national headquarters will be located at the Kentucky Horse Park, site of the 2010 World Equestrian Games. The upcoming ribbon cutting marks the first time in its thirty year history that the USDF will have a permanent home and a Hall of Fame.
Sam Barish, USDF President, commented "USDF will be prominently located in a world-class equestrian facility with other national organizations and will be
positioned very well to serve dressage and USDF members into the future."
The Campaign for the USDF National Education Center has surpassed the halfway mark toward its $5 million goal, with nearly $2.7 million in pledges raised to date. Charles A Smith, National Campaign Chair, says: "We have much to be proud of, but we have some way to go to fully realize our goals, which include debt free home ownership and a $1 million endowment to support dressage education. I'm confident we will get there with the continued support of the dressage community."
For additional information about the ribbon cutting or campaign opportunities contact Charlotte Williams, USDF Campaign Coordinator, at 859-971-7826, or ccampaign@...
