Sorry that my reply and photos about the Verhan went to the entire group; I did not realize the sender's email came to the Group instead of an individual :)
Hi- Per the saddle fitter, it would fit a wide horse who has a wither, but not a mutton withered type, if this helps. If you have access to a Wintec red gullet this will tell you if this might work.
Attached are some photos.
I would send it on trial if I received payment and then would refund the $ upon return. I can take Pay Pal but would have to deduct the Pay Pal transaction fee if I issued a refund, since Pay Pal is really expensive.
I have excellent feedback on e-bay if this helps (equestriannes) . I am located in SW MO.

Just to clarify what Linda posted- no one is automatically added to either e-group. If you want to become on the list you can add yourself or send me an email and I will add you. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
If you became a member of KCDS they should add you to the email list I think. I will check on that. We also have a Yahoo listing for anyone in region 4 that wants to join. That is how the lady in Minn. got the information because I sent that list the info also. It is titled the usdfregion4@yahoogroups.com. If you can enter it on your own do so and if not I will get Mary Nemecek to help you get on that one.
I will let you know about the KCDS list as soon as possible.

As you may or may not know, there HAS been another bill proposed to rescind the bill passed by Senator Burns of Montana - the one allowing for the slaughter of wild horses. This is good news, although even this new bill does not address the underlying issue - i.e. the millions of domestic cattle grazing public lands and thereby pushing out the other wildlife.
But another situation has developed - one that I find particularly disturbing. There is a for-profit group in Wyoming that has bought up 200 wild mares. Their plan is to breed these mares and send their foals to Mexico and other third world countries to be used as work animals. Their thinking is that this is a "noble" career for these unwanted animals - but the whole idea is not only ludicrous, it's suspect. For one thing, Mexico has a huge horse slaughter industry right now - meaning if they wanted or needed work horses, they have horses available in their own country. Secondly, the transportation fees would make the whole scheme financially unfeasible - which makes one wonder what this company is really up to?? And thirdly, horses, burros, mules, and other working farm animals in third world countries lead horrible lives. In India, foals are put to work as young as a few weeks of age. They are literally worked to death - often falling down dead within a harness. Many of these peasants barely have enough food to feed themselves - they don't have enough to feed animals, esp. young animals that need to just grow up before they are mature enough to work. The whole thing is suspicious and disturbing. Intentionally breeding horses to become work animals in third world countries is a BAD idea.
However... there is another solution on the horizon which looks promising. There are a number of Indian tribes in Oklahoma who want to take horses onto their lands. The National Congress of the American Indians (NCAI) has taken a very strong step in passing an emergency resolution to stop the slaughter of wild horses, to rescind the Burn’s amendment, and to place small numbers of wild horses on tribal lands.Normally during the winter conference, there are NO resolutions entertained. However, the Chairman from the Cheyenne River Reservation, Harold Frazier, sent the resolution and asked that NCAI act on it.It has passed under emergency session and that means that 120 Tribes have signed onto the resolution. The tribes have been very receptive to the idea of saving the horses. The approach to taking the horses by the tribes has been one of horses returning to their ancestral lands. It has been over 100 years that the tribes’ horses were taken from them.
If anyone would care to write a letter of appreciation to Chairman Harold Frazier for submitting the resolution to NCAI, that would be very nice. You can send it to:

Chairman Frazier’s tribe has done an outstanding job with managing the Virginia Range horses given to them through the BLM in 2001.This tribe really serves as a model for wild horse management amongst the tribes – please also thank Chairman Frazier for saving the Virginia Range wild horses. (The first herd for which Wild Horse Annie sought protections).
A customer of ours at Landers Farms told me about these horses. Just in case someone is interested I wanted to pass along the information. Many of them look quite nice,

> I am passing this along in hopes you might know of someone looking for a
good horse. These are well bred Thorobreds in a bad situation and need
homes fast. The owner has passed on and the family wants the horses sold by
April 11 or they will "go down the road". The trainer is trying to
place
these horses before the deadline. I helped Mary bring 3 to her barn. The
trainer brought them to Charlottesville
and we picked them up from there.
They are located in Missouri
and the trainer will help get them closer. The
web site is www.gifthillfarm.com and click on Missouri TB's. Please pass
this on to as many people as you can as time is short. Thanks.
