She is well worth auditing.

The clinic is full, but there is limited seating for auditing. Auditing is $25/both days or $15 /day. Included is a Saturday evening lecture. Everyone, we are going to host a dressage clinic with Stacey Schettkoe this summer.  What we need from you is feedback as to the best date and your interest.  Stacey is a USDF bronze and silver medalist.  She was a working student of Michael Poulin.  She is an "L" graduate with distinction and a USDF certified instructor through 4th level.  She works with riders of dressage, hunter, and eventing.  She makes marvelous changes in your riding no matter what your discipline.  The dates we are considering are August 14-15 or September 18-19.  We will have an indoor so the August date will not be a problem with the heat.  We have lots of parking and will have lots of stalls for those who want to take lessons on the two days or paddocks for turnout.  We will have a discount at one of the local hotels for your convenience.  Lessons should be around $125.
Please give me some feedback as to your interest and choice of dates. Other events of interest at Meadowbrook are an Open Schooling Day on July 3 (dressage, stadium and cross country), An all english show on August 17 (hunter over fences, hunter under saddle, open english pleasure and dressage).  An eventing clinic with Buck Davidson on June 26-27. And a one-day horse trial with baby green (2'), beginner novice (2'-6"), Novice 2'-11" and Training (3'-3") on July 31.  Hope to see you all here for a summer of fun. Let me know and I can download you the forms or will mail to you. Thanks, Marnie Braun, Meadowbrook Equestrian Center, Shell Knob, MO.

Hi there,

You should contact Leatherdale Farms in the Twin Cities area. They had a
woman from the Twin Cities handle their horses at their Hanoverian
inspection last year that was supposedly pretty good.

Sarah, just wanted you to keep our barn, Meadowbrook Equestrian Center in Shell Knob, MO abreast of all your happenings.  My barn is dedicated to Dressage, Hunter/Jumpers and Eventing.  We have a cross country course and my riders need places to show.  We are having a one-day horse trial here on July 31 and an eventing clinic with Buck Davidson on June 26-27.  We are also trying to organize a Dressage clinic with Stacey Schettkoe. Stacey was a working student of Michael Poulin.  She is a bronze and silver medalist, a certified instructor throug 4th and an "L" judge graduate with distinction.  Her lessons will cost approximately $125 per lesson.
She works with riders of all disciplines and can help any age group.  She is truly a wonderful teacher.  Basically, I need to know how many are interested.  Would appreciate the reply:  Marnie Braun mbec@...

Subject: [usdfregion4] Activities in the northwestern portion of the Region

Thanks for setting up this interactive web-site for Region 4!  Dakota
Dressage & Eventing has had a YahooGroups web-site and listserve
since last September and we have found it a great way to communicate
with our members who span both South and North Dakota.  We also use
the chat room feature to hold meetings and on-line book club
discussions during the winter months when travel can be difficult.

DDE is planning several activities in 2004, some of which include:
* a schooling show series with show locations aimed for Vermillion,
Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Pierre, Bismarck (ND) and possibly other
locations (i.e., Rapid City).
*  Two recognized dressage shows with classes through the FEI and a
fun team competition as part of the Missouri River Show Weekend in
Ft. Pierre, SD, June 12-13.  The judges are Sarah Geikie, 'S' (CT)
and Marie Johnson, 'R' (WI).  Barb Funk is our TD.  Susan Lesmeister
Nickle is the show secretary.  Please contact her at
slesmeiste@... or check the show web-site:
www.groups.yahoo.com/group/MRSW for more information.  We would love
to see you that weekend!
*  A USDF Instructor Certification workshop with Melanie Tenney for
training - second level tentatively scheduled for Sioux Falls or
Huron, SD. This is a follow-up workshop for Participating Instructors
who were in the DDE/USDF workshop series in SD in 2003.  Demo
riders/horses may be needed.
*  A USDF Instructor Certification Pre-Certification exam scheduled
for September 18-19 at the state fairgrounds in Huron, SD.  This will
be held in conjunction with the Iowa Dressage & Combined Training
Association, who will also have their own Participating Instructors
ready for pre-cert this year.
*  Though early in planning, we may be hosting a sport horse breeding
seminar with a very successful breeder from the Netherlands (Ruud
Walters) this summer or in 2005.  Mr. Walters has bred several
successful dressage offspring and fully approved stallions (e.g.,
Dream of Heidelberg who stands at Gestute St. Ludwig in Germany).  If
you are interested in this, please let me know, as it will help us
with our planning.

I want to thank the GMO newsletter editors in the region for the very
useful newsletter exchange we've started.  I hope you noticed several
of your events/activities listed in our last newsletter.

Happy riding to you all!

Staci Meyers is the Region 4 Newsletter Editor. She helps me gather news for the newsletter and sends it to USDF and does all the editing and proofreading. Her email is stacim@.... She reads newsletters from around the region and uses articles and incorporates some of the planned events. GMOs or organizers of events within the region are encouraged to send her information they would like to have printed. We have a newsletter planned 4 times a year. We are gathering things now for submission to have come out in March. I would like one to come out in early June, Sept. and late November. Articles need to be sent to Staci about two months before the newsletter will come out. The information is gathered and goes to USDF and then is formatted and returned to Staci for final editing and then printed and mailed. We look forward to hearing from more of you this year. EquiFest of Kansas will be held Feb. 27-28-29 at the Kansas Coliseum in Wichita. It's a celebration of the horse - a huge horse festival, held annually by the Kansas Horse Council.

Daily presentations by world-class clinicians and trainers will include: Kay Meredith, conducting Dressage clinics; Senior Centered Riding Instructor Susan Harris featuring the Visible Horse and Visible Rider, and Centered Riding clinics with Peggy Brown; Rick Eckhart presenting Hunter and Jumper clinics; Clinton Anderson, providing Downunder Horsemanship; and Don West giving presentations on Trail Riding with emphasis on Naturally Gaited Horses. In addition, Doug Babcock will present Common Sense Horse Training clinics on Friday and Saturday of EquiFest, on Sunday Julie Goodnight will  offer a Horsemanship/Equitation clinic.

For the dressage lovers,  clinician Kay Meredith will present daily at EquiFest. She has trained and successfully competed through Grand Prix levels in dressage, representing the United States in international competitions and competing throughout the U.S. for three decades. Kay’s EquiFest presentations will utilize dressage horses and riders from our Region,  to demonstrate the history of dressage from its warfare origins to its development into modern dressage.  Riders will demonstrate various dressage levels, up to FEI (International) level, including several dressage tests with comments, as well as question and answer sessions with the audience.  Kay will have presentations all three days. In addition a Musical Freestyle will be offered at EquiFest.

There is a trade show, where you can explore over 130 commercial booths selling horse trailers, tack, feed, clothing, equipment, gifts and countless products and services for horse fans.

Over 150 horses of a wide variety breeds will be presenting at EquiFest, with breed demonstrations, clinics, special demonstrations and a Stallion Review.

Lecture and workshop topics at EquiFest will include: “Buying a New Horse”; “The Visible Horse: An Inside Look at Conformation”; “Understanding and Improving Your Horse’s Gaits, Balance and Movement”; “Centered Driving”; “Problem Horses, is it Me or my Horse?”;  “Saddle Fitting”; “Equine Behavior”, and more.

You get all of this and more for the low daily entrance fee ticket of just $10 - kids 6 to 12 get in for $5.50 and kids under 5 years get in free. Tickets are available in advance at www.selectaseat.com. Cash only at the door for tickets; no pets or videotaping allowed.

For more information, and a schedule of events, go to: www.kansashorsecouncil.com or email: jjcloe@... or call 765-655-2107.

Dear Mary,
I put in my big email what you had sent me. You may get a great many emails. That was a Region 4 email, not a Yahoo group. Do you want me to send another and use the information you just sent. I could do so in another week or so. I don't want to overwhelm people with group emails. Bill Adams sent the large one to everyone in region 4 that we have an email address on.
Are you also putting together the flier for Equifest, or is Staci. I just wanted to be able to connect before I go down on the Thursday before.

Could you spread the word that a USDF Advanced Young Rider/Junior clinc will
be held in our Region? This is only the 2nd time Conrad Schumacher has been
in our region. It is a great opportunity for auditors to attend a clinic
with a master trainer at such a reasonable cost.
Info will be on the USDF website next week, under "programs".

Dear Julie,

Here are a few items:

Musical Freestyle Clinic sponsored by KCDS April 24-25, 2004 at High Point
Farm, Paola, KS (SW Kansas City area). Saturday will be lecture/videos on
picking music, choreography, rules, judging, etc and in the afternoon demo
rides. Cost will be $40 with lunch included. Sunday will be 8 riding
sessions, tentatively for $60 each and the horse/rider will have done a
freestyle by the end of their session. You can bring your own music or the
clinician will have some available. Audit fee for Sunday is $10. Clinician:
Wendy Insinger from New York. She likes to work with all levels and pas de
deux or quadrilles. Contact me for more information.

Dressage at High Point June 12-13, 2004. Our first show at our new
facility! We have been doing our shows at the Woodlands Race Track. 1
ring, Sonja Marita-Vracko "S", Intro through Grand Prix and Musical
Freestyle. Limited stalling. Contact me for more information.

Horses for sale:

I've been breeding for some years now and have a selection of sport horses
for sale, including:

Peseta, 4 yr old mare, dark gray, Anglo-Trakehner (Macht by Jockey Club
TB)
15-2 1/2. Started under saddle and over fences but still
green. Has
been hacked at a busy show in Oklahoma and was quiet for the
trainer.
AWR - 1st premium with score of 7.5. "Natural jumper"
                 Asking $7000

Juliana, 3 yr old mare, bay with 1 white sock and star.
Trakehner-Hanoverian
(Macht by MMB Oldenburg/ISR mare) Currently 15-3, should
mature over 16 hands. 2 siblings jump well. She has a
nice canter
and is a very sweet mare. AWR - 1st premium. $9000 until
started
                  under saddle this spring.

Lorelei, Filly, 2 yr old in May, Bay with 3 white socks and blaze.
Hanoverian
(Landkonig - elite Han. stallion imported from Germany by
MMB
Oldenburg mare) AWR inspection - Reserve Champion in
Midwest
and 3rd highest score in nation with score of 8.1 (8.25
for gaits).
Should mature over 16 hands. $10,500.

I am particularly interested in sending Peseta on to a home where she could
do jumping or 3 day eventing, as that seems to be her strength and I don't
jump. She is a sweet mare and might make a great horse for a more
experienced Pony Club rider.

Thanks so much, Julie.

Dear Julie,
It is good to get our first message. I hope next week to have an email going out to all of the members in Region 4 that have emails asking that they join our group.  Then we will have many members and we can let everyone know of the many activities our area has to offer. I look forward to an interesting year.
