Karen Robinson, of www.ApplauseDressage.com will be doing a Freestyle
clinic near Sioux Falls, SD (2.5 hours north of omaha, 4.5 hours from
Mpls) the last weekend of March!!

Ms. Robinson's client list goes from those of us competing first, up
to NAYRC competitors, indeed, all the way up to Leslie Morse! The
weekend clinic features a friday night lecture, then private rides w/
each clinic rider on Saturday, and again Sunday...

Dakota Dressage & Eventing (DDE), the gmo presenting the clinic, is
very pleased to be receiving funding from The Dressage Foundation's
Dancing Horse Fund. Thank you to everyone who supports TDF, its
appreciated!

Rider spots are limited, so call if you are interested... Ms.
Robinson's new clients for music services are limited to those who
ride in a clinic with her this year. This is a great opportunity to
those who wish to ride at NAJC or NAYRC in 2009 to get their
freestyle put together... as well as adults of any age!! DDE put
together a clinic w/ Ms. Robinson 2 years ago, and saw four
competitive freestyles come from that clinic... it will be great fun
to have her back again!

World Games Foundation Announces New
Dressage Discipline Manager

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE:  January 22, 2008
LEXINGTON, KY— The World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc. today announced Lloyd Landkamer, of Hamel, Minnesota as the Dressage Discipline Manager for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, in addition to his current duties as the Para-Equestrian Discipline Manager.
Mr. Landkamer is one of eight managers responsible for planning, managing and directing the World Championship competitions in eight equestrian sports and communicating with the FEI and participating national federations.  The managers will work on a contract basis with the World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc.
"We are extremely pleased with the role Mr. Landkamer has played in the planning for our Para-Equestrian competition so far, and we are delighted that he will take on this additional role and we know that he will bring to it the same devotion and attention to detail," said 2010 Games Competition Director Kate Jackson.
"It is an honor to take on the role of Dressage Discipline Manager," said Mr. Landkamer.  "I am confident that, with the team of disciplines managers and our competition director Kate Jackson, we will produce the best competition environment possible for the 2010 Games."
Mr. Landkamer holds a master’s degree in Economics and undergraduate work in animal nutrition. He is owner and operator of Brandywine Farm, a dressage equestrian facility in Hamel, MN. He has won USDF Horse of the Year awards at various levels and actively breeds quality sport horses that have won Year End Awards with national ranking within USDF. Mr. Landkamer has extensive involvement with all levels of management of equestrian events around the United States, serving as management and secretary. In addition, he has served as secretary at many prestigious events such as the Pan American Games and the North American Young Rider Competitions as well as management and secretary for CDI competitions.
He holds license with the United States Equestrian Federation as a C1 and C2 Steward, "R" rated Technical Delegate. He is also an FEI Chief Steward with international experience, most recently the Central American Games. Within the USA, Lloyd has officiated at Devon, Wellington CDI/W and many Regional Championships around the country.
Mr. Landkamer has served as panelist for the USEF Dressage Technical Delegates’ Forum many times, and as panelist for the USEF Show Secretary forum. He serves on several committees with the USDF and has been committee chair for education for USDF.  USDF has awarded him Show Secretary of the Year, Manager of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year.  He was recently selected by USEF as one of the Top Ten Show Secretaries of 2007.
Mr. Landkamer joins seven other discipline managers from both Central Kentucky and around the world.  They are as follows:  Driving, Susan Gilliland, of Dunellen, FL;  Endurance, Art Priesz, of Ivanhoe MN;  Eventing, Jane Atkinson, of Stamping Ground, KY;  Reining; Brad Ettleman, of Denver, CO; Vaulting, Kersten Klophaus, of Wermelskirchen, Germany; Show Jumping, David Distler of Norwalk, CT, and Hugh Kincannon of Lexington, KY.
The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and are held every four years.  The Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site— both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will attend the 16-day competition.

Mark your calendars for January 26th and 27th for the Michael
Bragdell Young Horse Clinic.

For those of you who are not familiar with Michael, he has worked as
an assistant trainer for Hilltop Farm for over 12 years. Michael has
a special gift with starting and developing young horses. Most
recently Michael qualified Beth Springer's gelding "Rochefort" for
the Young Horse Championships in Kentucky with an overall 8.08.
Michael and Rochefort finished 10th overall in the 5 yr. old
division. Michael also had the pleasure of bringing Hilltop's
Stallion, "Royal Prince", back out into the limelight this year and
had several wins at 3rd level. Michael is in charge of the young
horse backing process at Hilltop. Not only does he have experience
with starting a young horse, he also teaches horses and riders
through 2nd level.

The format of this clinic will be very educational, stepping through
the important training process throughout a young horses career. We
will break down the participants into 3 categories and run the

Do we still produce a Region 4 newsletter? I realized I haven't seen one for
awhile and
was curious who won the Region 4 perpetual awards for 2007.

Thank you very much for the update!  Of course we are understanding and do not

Please let her know that she and her husband are in our thoughts and prayers
for a speedy recovery!

Please be understanding that Sarah Patrick, our regional director, is
not checking her email quite as often as usual right now.

Sarah's husband, Brian, has just been diagnosed with a recurrent
cancer. The family is working with the team of doctors to determine
the best course of treatment. As they get his plan of care set up,
please understand that she is not able to check her email every day,
but is checking when she can & responding to more immediate concerns
first.

Knowing Brian, like most men, he does not want a fuss, like cards or
flowers :-) However, I hope we can all be supportive & understanding if
Sarah takes a few days to get back to us... Sarah & I are in the same
gmo, and work on some things together, so when she mentioned it was ok
to say something, I thought it might help if we all knew a little of
what's going on.

Thanks,
Joann Messersmith

Check out the Welsh Pony on line auction site. This is similar to what
I visualized for our stallion service auction. I think it is well
done. Please pass this on to anyone that might be interested.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the USDF convention in Orlando, Florida.  The feedback I have gotten on the horse health and GMO educational sessions has been fabulous.  I know I certainly enjoyed the sessions I was able to attend!!  The trade fair provided some fun holiday shopping and the awards banquets and viewing of a new moving on General Burton's extensive and impressive career with horses and horse sport were great and I always appreciate the opportunity to network with dressage enthusiasts across the country.  There is so much we can learn from each other.

I am working on minutes and follow-up actions from the Region 4 meetings which did raise great displeasure over the Region 4 Handbook (specifically: applying the USDF BOG voting procedure in official Region 4 meetings).  I do apologize for any hurt feelings created. I think we ended on a positive note, however, and made several decisions which set the stage for a positive 2008.  I am sorry and do apologize if any Region 4 member felt bypassed, unheard, or out of the loop on any Region 4 activity in 2007.  That was certainly not my intention.  I will try to get the minutes from the Region 4 meetings and supporting materials out by the end of this coming weekend.  They will be sent to the 18 participants in the meetings, distributed through the listserve, and posted under FILES > ANNUAL CONVENTION.  A summary will go in the January USDF news blast to all Region 4 members to ensure everyone has the opportunity to comment, create, and participate.

The Board of Governors had a heated discussionon an important document from the USEF Dressage Committee on proposed standards to move of the levels (attached).  This is tied to a proposed USEF rule change that will be discussed/voted on at the USEF annual convention in Louisville, KY January 9 - 13.  For those of you who receive the Digest version of this listserve, the file has been posted under FILES > ANNUAL CONVENTION.

I want to thank all who participated in the convention from Region 4 and welcome continued input from all members.

Cheers,

I am sharing this with the Region because I know Jane was tremendously popular with her clinics in Nebraska and Iowa this year, plus she and Trafalgar Square donated ~ $900 toward the Region 4 NAJYRC teams.  So, I think it is clear that her products are of great interest to many members in the Region and the discount might be a good deal

20% OFF
A special offer just for you!
If you're anything like me, figuring out what kind of holiday gift to get for the horse lover in your family, your instructor, or your stable buddies can be a real challenge.

To help you out with this dilemma and to THANK YOU for all your business throughout 2007, I'm going to have a Holiday Sale! You'll get 20% off of ALL orders. That means not only will you get the discount for books, CDs and DVDs, but you'll also get 20% off of all video lessons, mentoring sessions, and coaching programs! (Note: Space is limited for mentoring and coaching. There are only 5 slots available.)

Here's what Stacey Wilson from Maryland has to say about the Train with Jane DVDs:
"Since Jane's DVD's arrived, I've started the first two lessons with my 5yr old Arab/Holsteiner cross. In one week, we improved our competition scores by almost 5% points. It's truly amazing! My work and commuting schedule makes it difficult to work with anyone on a regular basis. But I can watch these lessons over and over. I love how Jane makes everything so concise and simple."

BONUS #1: But that's not all! For every order over $150, I'm going to include an autographed copy of my little motivational book, A Winning Attitude PLUS a CD of a live lecture PLUS a motivational quote card to carry in your wallet. This gift makes a great stocking stuffer!

BONUS #2: And I'm not done yet. For every order over $250, I'll also include an autographed copy of my best seller, That Winning Feeling! Join the thousands who have used the tools in this book to transform their lives.

Here's what Sherry Ballou had to say about That Winning Feeling!
"Jane's books aren't about winning-they're about living! If they were simply confined to sports competitions, they'd be good. However, they're without such confinement, so they're GREAT!"

My webmaster is working away at modifying my shopping cart to reflect the discount. I'll send you an email as soon as we're ready to go. To check out what's going to be available, just go to http://janesavoie.com/shop/index.html

Happy Holidays!
Live Your Dreams,
Jane
