Stoney Meadow Farms
Felicitas with JR Krissy Wang and Belladiva at the April 2005 clinic at Stoney Meadow
Welcomes back
Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel
November 17 - 19, 2006
Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel is an accomplished and gifted dressage trainer, instructor, clinician, and rider. She began her riding career in her native country of Germany where she was first in her class completing the prestigious "Reitlehrer," professional instructor certification, at the renowned Deutsche Reitschule (German Riding School). Felicitas graduated with the highest ratings ever awarded since the German government in 1982 upgraded the program, earning perfect marks for training horses in both the snaffle and double bridle.
Since coming to the United States in 1983 she has been the head trainer and instructor at First Choice Farm (Woodbine, Maryland), one of the most prestigious dressage stables in the United States where she has trained numerous horses to Grand Prix level. Recognition of her equestrian knowledge, talent, and skills led to her appointment in 1992 as one of ten United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Examiners for the USDF Instructor’s Certification Program.
Felicitas’ unique training methods build upon classical European methods and emphasize technique over strength. She promotes lightness of hand and harmonious balance of horse and rider. She has the gift of mind and hand so essential in capturing the best of horse and rider alike. Felicitas is truly one of the most elegant riders in the world of dressage. She and her students have won many championships at the Ljundquist Dressage Finals. Her working student, Brendan Curtis, was been selected as one of the six finalists for Robert Dover’s search for America’s Next Dressage Star.
Felicitas is also a prolific and articulate writer, having written numerous articles for Dressage Today, and served as technical editor of the English translation of Reiner Klimke’s Ahlerich: The Making of a Dressage Champion and Isabelle von Neumann-Cosel-Nebe’s The Young Rider's Book of Horses & Horsemanship. She has also been the subject of many top equestrian publications and was the featured rider in Sally O'Connor’s book entitled “Common Sense Dressage, An Illustrated Guide” that was published in 2004.
Stoney Meadow is proud that Felicitas has enjoyed her clinics with us. The quality of riders and horses as well as the commitment we demonstrate is what keeps Felicitas coming back. She is more impressed by the level of effort and improvement between clinics than she is by what level we are riding or what type of horse we have. She only does a limited number of clinics and it is wonderful that this is our third clinic in 2006.
Previous clinics have filled quickly and preference will be given to previous participants and Stoney Meadow Farms boarders and clients. Thus, we only anticipate a few sessions will be open so please express interest early!
