Re: [usdfregion4] Fwd: USDF Membership e-News

USEF and USDF send out and post reams of information concerning every aspect of the rules and regulations.  They also send out (in a timely fashion) reams of info concerning the NEW RULE CHANGES.  The rules do change quite frequently.  I certainly can't keep up with them in between the three USEF/USDF shows we organize each year.  So....I let my very bright husband handle the entry forms, check-in of competitors and the reams of paperwork required to help the competitors stay legal and current.  My very bright husband sits the TD down right next to the check-in table.  Our very bright TD's have their rule books and current rule updates right handy on that table.  The book and updates must often be consulted by the TD right then and there to answer and resolve competitors questions so their efforts that weekend can qualify for recognition.  This procedure {TD's at the check-in table} seems to solve the entry requirements for the USEF and USDF shows so that the competitors can get their numbers & packets and participate.  It might help if there was a standard entry form for all shows.

I would really like to know the current statistics from the USDF concerning whether or not organizers are in fact late to report.

Are the dues we all pay adequate to compensate the USDF staff for the thousands of entries they must make in order to check and record data sent by organizers?  If not, do we need to raise the dues so that they can hire addition people to handle all this data.

Since I am on the organizing and competing side I get to experience the best and worst of both sides concerning the reams of info we all must consume and abide by or be fined (or not have our efforts count).

I welcome any and all comments that lead to a more simple solution than exists currently.  We will implement it at our shows immediately.

I also welcome any and all comments.

Thanks,
Bonnie Griest

I think USDF is doing itself a huge disservice by issuing fines to show management rather than participants for "incomplete entries"...i.e. horse recordings...
