Afternoon everyone,

We've been working hard in Region 5 on preparing for the upcoming USDF Convention and Symposium.  We're asking for some support from the various GMO presidents in getting more information out to everyone in their groups.  A nice release has been written regarding the upcoming Symposium and we're hoping some of you might pass it on to your members or run it in your newsletters.

The deadlines are fast approaching for early registration and the fees are not inexpensive this year.  We are blessed with an extremely talented and knowledgeable symposium presenter again this year and we want to encourage everyone to attend this event.

       This coming December 6 and 7, 2008, Denver will see an event that has not happened for a decade- the return of Kyra Kyrklund to teach and inspire dressage enthusiasts from all across the country. Sponsored by the United States Dressage Federation, Kyra will be teaching in the climate controlled Denver Coliseum, where Stock show is held every January. Kyra is internationally considered to be the world¢s best female dressage trainer. She has trained and competed in every Olympic, World Cup and World Championship competition for the past twenty years. Kyra¢s absolute dedication to classical technique, accompanied by an unparalleled ability to communicate her approach has lifted her far above the wrangling and controversy that surrounds the training techniques of Isabell Werth and Anky Van Grunsven.
 
   In a world where you are remembered just as long as your last success, Kyra has already achieved the status of Master, not just in the eyes of a select few, but in the eyes of the Global Dressage Forum, who frequently ask her to make presentations on training at their annual meeting in Holland..
 
   This is the person that will be accessible to ALL who are interested. Kyra will be teaching all day Saturday and Sunday Dec 6 and 7. She will be presenting horse/rider combinations that represent stages of development from Novice riders to FEI 5 and 6 year olds, to a horse specifically working on developing flying changes and half pass, to the development of FEI horses from Prix St George to Grand Prix. Kyra intentionally chooses to work with horse/rider combinations that are developing, as she wants to show the auditors what the application of her exercises does to CREATE the picture she is looking for. When you come, bring a new notebook, as you will be exposed to exercise after exercise that will last you not only through the winter, but through the training process for many years to come!

   NOVEMBER 11 IS DEADLINE for early registration- this will save you $60.00!!!!!
If you are a member of your local Group Member Organization for 2009, you are also a GM USDF member- you do not need to join USDF separately if this is not something you would normally do- however, it is cost effective to join as a Group Member Organization member. Your membership will generally count for both USDF and your local GMO 2009  membership year when you join at this time of year.
