Many people quit their jobs because they can't stand their boss. Do you find yourself in a similar situation? Before typing your resignation letter, consider what Ecclesiastes 10:4 says, "If your boss is angry with you, don't quit. A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes."
Relational conflicts in the workplace provide priceless opportunities for growth. But learning won't be maximized if we opt to quit before the program is even completed. Quitting at the height of a conflict with your boss is almost always an unwise decision.
God values employee-employer relationships. I find it interesting that in Ephesians 6, Paul gave guidelines not only for harmonious family relations, he also included tips for masters and slaves to get along with each other well. Masters and slaves. Today's counterpart of that will be the relationship of bosses with their subordinates.
Paul began by addressing the subordinates. How should we, dear employees, relate with our boss? (Ephesians 6:5-8)
Employees…
1) Obey your boss with deep respect and fear.
2) Serve sincerely as you would serve Christ.
3) Work hard but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
What's our take if we follow these guidelines? Read on…God has a bonus for you! "Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free" (Ephesians 5:8).
