Bakit nga ba importante ang goals sa ating mga trabaho. Ang mga ibabahagi ko
sa inyo ay galing sa aklat na “Strategy for Leadership” na isinulat ni Edward
Dayton at Ted Engstrom. The power of goals. Bakit ito mahalaga.

1. Goals give a sense of direction and purpose.
They tell workers where the organization is going and help them to see where they fit.

2. Goals give us the power to live in the present.
We cannot really make any decisions about the future, we are not even sure who will be alive at any given time in the future, but if we know the kind of desirable future that we want, we can make decisions today, which are more likely to bring us into that future. Ang mga goals, heto yung mga statements ng mga hinahangad natin sa kinabukasan nakakatulong para gawin natin ang mga desisyon na makakaapekto sa future natin. Goals give us the power to live in the present and prepare for the future.

3. Goals promote enthusiasm and strong organizational life.
Sa papaanong paraan, kapag alam ng mga tao kung bakit sila nagtatrabaho
ng sama-sama, if there is a common purpose that they are working towards to attain, there is an increased sense of fellowship, belonging or camaraderie within the group. It is easier to build teamwork around a task that people are accomplishing together than it is to build teamwork just for teamwork’s sake.

4. Goals help us operate more effectively.
They do not necessarily help us to operate more efficiently since we may have to change our goals and therefore have to change the way we work, but they do emphasize effectiveness. One definition of a problem is a deviation from a goal.
Ang assumption dito kung walang goal kung saan ikaw ay lalayo o magdedeviate, walang problema. Goals tell us where to put our energies.

5. Goals help us to evaluate our progress.
This also increases our effectiveness if we do not know how far we have come, how can we know whether we have arrived.
