Well,
I am pretty busy but I hate to see Jake's club die. Kelly Bierworth
and I have taken over the running club president's title and with
some help from the RFC the Cougar Quad is back. The race is the 27th
of September 9:00 am e-mail me for more information....if anyone is
reading this anymore. Well I hope that we can get the club at least
functional again, here's to trying,

Time for someone at UMM to take a leadership role. Jake and some
others did the heavy lifting. The infrastructure is in place.
The Cougar Quad 4 was a good race and a unique race. Promoting
something like that is going to teach you something about marketing,
organizing things and people. Those are some things that you can
use later in life. I've got two degrees...I've learned more by
taking a leadership role in things like this (the UMM Running Club)
than I ever learned in school.
Get your stuff together UMM runners. You had a good thing going!
We'll be hosting the 2nd Annual Cougar Quad
Homecoming Run on September 29th, 2001. There's some nice
t-shirts in the works for all runners; further information
(and a preview of the shirt) can be found at
www.mrs.umn.edu/cougarquad/runclub.

Jake
Runners:

Finally, it has happened. We are
now an offical club with all of the luxuries of a
fully-approved campus organization (money, a P.O. box, and
access to large quantities of paper and
markers).

Now that it's getting nice out, there's not any
reason to skip running, is there?
My job at the rink generally requires me to close
on Sundays, so I go down there at about 5. So
running is not a priority at 4. But I welcome you hearty
souls to come to the rink and take a few laps around
our beautiful indoor rubber 580' track!
St. Paul is having a half-marathon and 5k on the 5th of February... Details are
on the club website. If you're crazy enough, sign up. It's a fun race.

-

Runners' Cars- Scan in those wonderful vehicles. After all, they deserve some
recognition- we'd do pretty lousy if we had to run TO the races and THEN
compete!
St. Cloud State University is hosting two road races on the 30th of October, a
10k and 5k. Information and entry forms have been posted on the club home
page.

Jake
Hey, club. The group runs are going to be at four
in the afetrnoon starting on the 17th since it's
getting darker and darker, and going back to Standard
Time won't help either. It's our little way of trying
not to be killed on the dark, lonely highway.
