Quick update...
Michigan completed the sweep of Lake Superior State with another 4-2
victory. Louie Caporusso had two goals, while Matt Rust and Travis
Turnbull added the others.
The good news is Ferris State swept Miami tonight, thus giving
Michigan a five point lead over the RedHawks and Spartans, who
defeated Western Michigan this afternoon.
The bad news is Chad Kolarik left the game injured during the third
period and did not return. He had to be helped to the lockerroom.
The injury occurred during a 5x3 power play for the Lakers. As the
puck was along the half board, Kolarik was covering in front of the
net and was down on his right knee with left skate stretched out. The
LSSU player sent the puck across the ice and something happened to
Chad as he tried to turn the other way and he fell to the ice and was
very slow to get up. Play continued on as the Lakers kept control in
the attacking zone and Kolarik basically stood in front of the net
unable to move or put weigh on his left leg, and he ended up falling
back down to the ice in pain, but while down still managed to dive in
front of a shot to help clear the puck. That's sacrificing your body
for the team, and that's one of those little things I will always
remember. The only update Fox Sports had before the end of the game
was the training staff was still examining him and had yet to
determine what was wrong. The announcers speculated it could have
been a groin or hamstring injury. I just hope it doesn't keep him out
very long.

That's all for now...
