Michigan 1, Michigan Tech 0 (2ot)
For the first time since 1996, the Michigan Wolverines are the Great
Lakes Invitational champions after defeating Michigan Tech, 1-0, in
two overtimes. Travis Turnbull was the hero tipping a shot by Scooter
Vaughan past Huskies goaltender Rob Nolan 2:32 into the second OT.
Billy Sauer made 38 saves and was named the tournament's Most Valuable
Player. Sauer became the first goaltender in GLI history to post
back-to-back shutouts.
The only other All-Tournament team member the radio announcers caught
was Mark Mitera. I'll have the full list up on MHNet when available.
In the day's earlier game, Providence downed Michigan State, 5-3.
