NEW POLLS

The latest USCHO and USA Today polls are out and Michigan is ranked #2
in both of them.

The Miami RedHawks, who swept #3 Michigan State this past weekend,
solidified their ranking in the USCHO poll by taking 48 of 50 first
place votes. Michigan received the other two first place votes.

In the USA Today poll, the RedHawks leapfrogged the Wolverines to
reclaim the #1 spot.

Denver and Colorado College are ranked #3 and #4 respectively in both
polls. Michigan State and North Dakota take the next two spots, with
the Spartans ranked #5 in the USCHO poll and #6 in the USA Today poll.

TRIO EARN HONORS
---------------------

Senior captain Kevin Porter, junior goalie Billy Sauer, and freshman
forward Max Pacioretty all earned CCHA weekly honors.

Porter was named the CCHA Offensive Player of the Week after posting
four goals and two assists in a weekend sweep of Lake Superior State.
Porter leads the nation with 13 goals and 18 points in 12 games.

Sauer stopped 58-of-61 shots on the weekend, 34 of which came Saturday
night, in the sweep of the Lakers.

Pacioretty helped the Wolverines with a goal and three assists on the
weekend. He has an eight game assist streak.

SHOWCASE TV SCHEDULE
--------------------

This weekend's College Hockey Showcase games against Wisconsin and
Minnesota will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network (for the five of
you who receive it). Both night's games will air tape-delayed at
11:30 p.m. ET.

However, according to the Big Ten Network's website, Friday night's
game will be streamed live at http://bigtennetwork.com. I'll keep my
eye on it and fire out a quick e-mail that night if indeed it is the
case.

BLACKBURN Q&A
--------------------

MGoBlue.com has a Q&A with former Wolverine goaltender/new U-M
goaltender coach Josh Blackburn as part of their MGoBlogs series.

Blackburn talks about his time at Michigan, his "frustrating
experience" in professional hockey, and what it's like being a coach
and being on the flip side of the player/coach relationship.

You can read it at:

HUNWICK RECALLED
--------------------

Former Wolverine captain Matt Hunwick has received his second call up
to the Boston Bruins after an injury to Andrew Ference. He played 13
minutes in Saturday's 7-4 loss to Montreal and had a minus-2 rating.

"He's played well for us," said coach Claude Julien. "He's played
extremely well in Providence. We've lost Ference here for a little
bit. We thought Matt should be part of the team and he was deserving
to be here. That's why we called him up."

Hunwick made his NHL debut Nov. 10 in a 2-1 win over Buffalo. He saw
15 1/2 minutes of ice time and played a very solid game according to
reports. He was sent back to Providence after the game, where has
recorded four assists and four penalty minutes in 11 games.
