Another quick update...
Michigan 6, LSSU 2
For the second consecutive night the Wolverines trailed after the
opening 20 minutes then surged ahead during the second period en route
to downing Lake Superior State, 6-2.
Kevin Porter scored 2:58 into the contest, but former Wolverine Zac
MacVoy responded at 10:44 and John Scrymgeour added a late period
tally to put the Lakers ahead 2-1.
Early in the second period the Wolverines would score three goals in a
2:48 span to pull ahead 4-2. Travis Turnbull scored at 2:10, then
Aaron Palushaj and Brian Lebler scored 56 seconds apart.
Anthony Ciraulo made it 5-2 7:34 into the third period, and Porter
added his second of the night late in the period.
It wasn't as lopsided as the score indicated. The Wolverines played
very undisciplined and allowed the Lakers ten power play
opportunities, but the penalty kill would shine denying them on all
chances. On the flip side, U-M only had three power play chances and
converted on one of them.
Billy Sauer had to be sharp and finished the game with 34 saves.
