Jack Johnson has confirmed with The Michigan Daily what has been
speculated for some time--that he will be turning pro.

"I thought I was ready for a new challenge," Johnson told The Michigan
Daily. "With all my close friends, the seniors, gone now and
everything, I thought it was time for me to pretty much go for a new
challenge."

Johnson said he is currently in negotiations with the Los Angeles
Kings--with the only remaining issue being contract bonuses--and
expects to be in the lineup Tuesday night in San Jose.
