SPLIT DECISION

The coaches and media are split over who'll finish atop the CCHA
according to preseason polls released at the annual CCHA Media Day.

The coaches picked Michigan State to finish first, while the media
selected Michigan by the narrowest of margins--one vote--though in
both polls the Spartans received more first place votes.

Defending CCHA regular season champion Miami was picked third in both
polls, then spots four through nine were mixed. The coaches picked
Ohio State, Nebraska-Omaha, Notre Dame, Alaska, Northern Michigan, and
Ferris State. The media believes it'll be Northern Michigan,
Nebraska-Omaha, Ohio State, Ferris State, Notre Dame, and Alaska.

Lake Superior State, Bowling Green, and Western Michigan rounded out
the bottom three in each poll.

PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS

The CCHA also released their Preseason All-Conference teams today and
three Wolverines were selected to the First Team.

Senior forward T.J. Hensick received ten First Team votes and joins
Nebraska-Omaha forward Scott Parse, the only unanimous pick, and
Miami's Nathan Davis.

On defense, it's all Maize n' Blue. Senior captain Matt Hunwick and
sophomore Jack Johnson were each selected to the First Team, while
Michigan State goalie Jeff Lerg took honors in net.

Junior forward Kevin Porter was the lone Wolverine named to the Second
Team, while Andrew Cogliano received Honorable Mention.

TV SCHEDULE

The Michigan hockey team will appear at least 14 times on TV this
season between Fox Sports Detroit, CSTV, and ESPNU. I'm guessing
Comcast local will probably pick up most of the other home games.

Here is the list of Michigan's TV appearances:

Oct. 20 vs. Miami (CSTV)
Nov. 21 vs. Michigan State (CSTV)
Dec. 8 vs. Notre Dame (Fox Sports Detroit)
Dec. 10 at Notre Dame (ESPNU)
Dec. 29 vs. Michigan Tech (FSD)
Dec. 30 vs. Michigan State/Harvard (FSD)
Jan. 19 at Alaska (ESPNU)
Jan. 20 at Alaska (ESPNU)
Jan. 26 vs. Ferris State (CSTV)
Jan. 27 vs. Ferris State (FSD)
Feb. 3 vs. Western Michigan (FSD)
Feb. 10 vs. Michigan State (FSD)
Feb. 18 vs. Lake Superior (FSD)
Feb. 24 at Ohio State (CSTV)

That's all for now...

Go Blue!
