FERRIS STATE 4, MICHIGAN 3
Ugh... what more is there to say? We can't hold a lead if our lives depend on
it.
Michigan went into the third period with a 3-0 following second period goals by
Travis Turnbull, Jack Johnson, and Andrew Cogliano, and they simply blew it.
Just blew it. Hardcore blew it.
Mark Bombersback got the rally rolling for Ferris State 3:04 into the third
period. Chad Kolarik's tip pass off the boards in the U-M zone was picked up
by Zac Pearson, who slid the puck to Bombersback all alone to Billy Sauer's
right and he went five hole to make it 3-1.
Corey Couturier made it 3-2 at 6:38 of the third period. Dan Riedel won the
faceoff in the U-M zone and Couturier ripped it past Sauer.
With 4:39 left in regulation, Matt Frank skated in one-on-one and snapped a hard
wrist shot that beat Sauer on the shortside past his blocker.
Then just 42 seconds into overtime, the Bulldogs were clearing their zone when
Jack Johnson went in for the hit at the FSU blueline. The puck bounced past
him to Bombersback, and he quickly gunned it up ice to Pearson who had already
gotten past the defender and he ended up beating Sauer's glove for the victory.
The Bulldogs outshot the Wolverines 14-4 in the third period and overtime, and
30-18 for the game.
The Wolverines just broke down...again.
U-M finishes the regular season in third place after Nebraska-Omaha tanked at
Western Michigan. The last place Broncos swept the Mavericks, while Northern
Michigan swept Ohio State. Therefore, NMU moves into the 4th place spot and
earns the first round bye. Miami and Michigan State are the top two seeds.
I certainly hope Red can figure out something to do to this team during next
weekend's bye. My theory: Let the band director dance again =) Is it a
coincidence our problems at Yost this season all happened after they stopped
allowing the pep band director to dance in the third period?

That's all for now...
Go Blue!
