Quick update...
Michigan gets shutout in East Lansing, 2-0. The Wolverines started out flat and struggled all night. The Spartans got a 5x3 power play goal in the opening period and a shorthanded goal in the second. It's the sixth shortie the Wolverines have given up in the past 12 games. Just terrible. U-M didn't get many quality shots on Jeff Lerg and had a lot of problems just clearing the puck from their own zone. Outlet passes were off or intercepted all game. Senior netminder Noah Ruden was a bright spot in the game, however, coming up with several solid saves to keep the game close.
One more bad note... Jack Johnson received a game disqualification for a check he put on Tyler Howells late in the third period. If you want to see the video of it, go to http://michiganhockey.net/videos/johnson%20howells%20hit.wmv
Honestly, I don't even know if this was worthy of a two minute minor, let alone a major and game DQ. Howells had the puck, he passed it away, Johnson's hit is going for Howells right shoulder and he starts to turn at the last second and Johnson ends up smashing him face first into the boards, while Chad Kolarik then reaches around with his right hand and pulls back on Howells helmet. Howells ended up with a busted forehead and blood everywhere. I'm not sure if it was Johnson's hit or Kolarik's helmet pull that caused it, but Johnson ends up taking the blame and will miss Friday's game against Bowling Green.
