I knew I forgot something in that update!

Des Moines (USHL) forwards Trevor Lewis and Aaron Palushaj have both verbally committed to Michigan.  Lewis will be arriving next fall, and Palushaj will be joining the team in 2007.

Lewis is currently the second leading scorer in the USHL with 35 points in 26 games with a +20 rating.  He also has a league-best four shorthanded goals.

The 6-foot-1 native of Murray, Utah is considered an 'A' prospect by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.  According to reports, he has good vision and a good shot and works hard to get his goals.  He doesn't mind taking a beating in front of the net, nor does he mind dishing out the hits, either.

Right now he's off competing at the Viking Cup with Team USA, where he recorded a hat trick in an 8-4 victory yesterday.

Just days after getting a verbal commitment from Lewis, the Wolverines have picked up a verbal commitment from his teammate Aaron Palushaj for 2007.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound forward from Northville, Mich. is in his rookie year and fifth on the team in scoring with six goals and 14 assists to go with a +16 rating in 24 games.  The 16-year-old is the youngest player on the team and the only 1989-born player on the squad.

And in an interesting back story to the new recruits, according to Michael Spath at TheWolverine.com, apparently when Lewis returned to Des Moines with his team after the Dec. 18 weekend, Boston College coach Jerry York was waiting for him.  Lewis was leaning towards U-M at the time, but listened to what York had to say.  That is, until he got a call from Palushaj, who was in Ann Arbor on a recruiting visit.  Palushaj apparently told Lewis of the great time he was having and said something along the lines of, "I'm coming here and you're crazy if you don't.  This place is awesome!"  The next day Lewis committed to U-M.

That's all for now... really!

Go Blue!
