THE RED BERENSON SHOW
Yesterday's Red Berenson Show will be available late late tonight
(like 2 a.m. late). Had to record it at work last night and forgot to
bring it home to edit out the commercials and format it. I'll be sure
to do that tonight.
CAPORUSSO COMMITS FOR 2007
St. Michael's (OPJHL) forward Louie Caporusso has verbally committed
to U-M for the 2007 season according to those in the know on the
Rivals board.
Born June 21, 1989, Caporusso is the youngest player on the Buzzers'
roster and just one of two '89-born players on the team. He is listed
as 5'10 and 180 pounds. Currently in his rookie year, Caporusso is
second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 26 assists in 31 games.
The Buzzers are the same team the Wolverines snagged freshman Andrew
Cogliano from, and they may not be done yet. The Wolverines are also
reportedly targeting defenseman Brendan Smith (the other '89-born
player on the roster). Both Caporusso and Smith were seen at Yost
during the Michigan State game earlier this season.
THREE WOLVERINES TO THE WORLD JUNIORS
USA Hockey has released their roster for the 2006 IIHF World Junior
Championships to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia December 26
through January 5, 2006.
The Michigan hockey team will be losing three key underclassmen for
the Great Lakes Invitational. Sophomore forward Kevin Porter, who
played on last year's team, and freshmen defensemen Jack Johnson and
Mark Mitera.
Minnesota and North Dakota also had three players make the team.
The Wolverines could still lose a fourth in freshman forward Andrew
Cogliano. The Canadian World Junior will be holding a camp next week
in which, if I remember correctly, they typically cut players
throughout the week to form the final roster.
TAMBELLINI NAMED ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Former Wolverine Jeff Tambellini was named the AHL's Rookie of the
Month for November. Tambellini had a nine-game point streak and
finished the month with 12 goals, 8 assists, and a plus-8 rating in 12
games.
KATHY KOMISAREK PASSES AWAY
Finally, a bit of sad news. For those who haven't heard, former
Wolverine defenseman Mike Komisarek's mother Kathy lost her battle
with pancreatic cancer last week. She was 51 years old.
There's a very nice write-up in today's Montreal Gazette. You can
