If you haven't heard by now, Michigan lost their first game of the season last
night, 4-2, at Alaska Fairbanks. UAF jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead,
with Michigan's goal coming from Travis Turnbull.
Andrew Cogliano made it 3-2 in the 2nd period, but then U-M got hosed by a
horribly missed offsides call that turned out to be Fairbanks' fourth goal.
I've attached a photo a user on USCHO posted. The arrow in the middle shows the
puck as it's about to cross the blueline. To the top of the screen you clearly
see a UAF player already a good five feet in the zone. The kicker is you see
the linesman, who isn't even situated on the line no less... he's a good 15 feet
in the zone! And he's already waving his arms that the zone was clear. You
can't blame the whole game on that one goal... UAF started strong and played
great... it was still a killer goal to give up, especially in that fashion.
U-M outshot UAF 36-23, but their power play went a cold 1-for-8 and Wylie Rogers
was strong in net for the Nanooks.
Game two is tonight at 11pm ET. Those of you in the Ann Arbor area can watch it
on Comcast Local. Last night's game was also broadcast online, apparently, so
if it is again tonight I'll pass along the link as soon as I get it.

That's all for now...
