THREE WOLVERINES OUT THIS WEEKEND
Michael Spath over at The Wolverine is reporting that David Moss,
Mike Brown, and David Rolhfs will be out of action this weekend.
Moss suffered a groin injury, while Brown and Rolhfs have each come
down with mono. Berenson says that Brown and Rolhfs are week-to-
week. So look for Mike Woodford, Charlie Henderson, and Reilly
Olson to all suit up. According to the Michigan Daily, Berenson
said Olson might play forward this weekend and practiced on a line
with Woodford and Henderson yesterday.
Don't forget that Friday night's game is on Fox Sports Detroit. Air
time is 7:30 p.m. ET.
VOTE FOR HOBEY
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award preliminary round fan voting is
currently taking place until March 6. Fans can vote once a day for
their favorites at HobeyBaker.com.
Of course, kind of sad if it's true that the fan vote actually
counts towards deciding the winner seeing as the early rounds are
typically nothing more than a popularity contest of who has the
biggest online fan base and some of the real contenders get left
out. Case in point, Bowling Green defenseman Jonathan Sigalet has
more votes than T.J. Hensick right now.
HERE WE GO... YET AGAIN!
Finally, from the "Here we go again!" department, word is the
Athletic Department has once again sent out another e-mail to
students threatening to kick them over use of profanity. This is
getting ridiculous. The e-mail apparently stated that they were
disappointed that there was no improvement after the Alaska
Fairbanks series. Well, when only two dozen students show up to the
meeting, what did they expect?
Just a few weeks ago they met with a small group of students and
opened dialogue on a variety of issues, but most importantly on how
to solve the situation with the C-Ya! chant. According to students
there, one of the topics discussed was kicking students out and
pretty much everyone agreed it was not a good idea. Asked about how
much they wanted to accomplish during the remainder of the season
and the University acknowledged it was a work in progress. As I
stated before, this is not a problem that will be fixed over night
(even though the AD apparently continues to think it is).
Students felt this was a good first step in a process that was long
overdue. There was an exchange of concerns and ideas on both sides,
and the feeling was that the University was finally getting students
involved in the process rather than continuing to try forcing their
will upon them, and the University mentioned that they planned on
holding another meeting later this season.
Well, talk about taking one step forward and two giant steps
backwards. I bet not one student shows up at that next meeting.
Just like I said before why should the students take their repeated
threats seriously when they never act on them, well, why should the
students take these meetings seriously when the University seems
intent on going it alone and continuing to do things their way (and,
in my opinion, the wrong way)? The University finally extended
their arm in good faith to resolve this conflict, but instead of
building upon it, they immediately stabbed them in the back. They
just threw everything exchanged at that meeting right out the window
and went back to their threatening ways. Seriously, does anyone
over there not see the stupidity in that? Anyone?

That's all for now...
