Central Scouting Bureau releases Mid-Term Rankings
The NHL Central Scouting Bureau has released their Mid-Term Rankings for
the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and it's already stirring up a lot of talk among
hockey fans.
Among Wolverine hopefuls, incoming freshman defenseman Jack Johnson is
ranked #5 among North American skaters. He is the second highest ranked
defensive prospect behind Luc Bourdon of Val D'or (QMJHL) at #4. Just the
other day the International Scouting Service ranked Johnson the #2 overall
prospect for the draft.
Fellow Under-18 teammate Jason Bailey came in strong at #47, while Zac
MacVoy was #83.
Ontario super prospect Andrew Cogliano was ranked #87. The biggest knocks
on his draft status this season were playing another season of Tier II
hockey, getting off to a slow start, and probably his size (you know how
the CSB loves big players and Cogliano is listed as only 5'9"). Berenson
called him a cross of Mike Cammalleri and Jeff Tambellini, and we've seen
how well those two have turned out.
And for those scratching their heads over Cogliano's ranking, how about
this one... sophomore standout T.J. Hensick is ranked #94. Arguably the top
player in the CCHA and possibly a Hobey Baker finalist, Hensick is having
another big season leading the nation's top offense.
Solid two-way forward recruit Tim Miller is the last of the draft eligible
Wolverines to be ranked. He came in at #135.

That's all for now...
