HUSKIES UPSET WOLVERINES, 4-2

Not the start of the regular season everyone thought it would be for the nation's #1 ranked team.

Backed by three second period goals, Northeastern upset Michigan, 4-2, at the Lefty McFadden Invitational in Dayton, Ohio Friday evening.

The Wolverines led 1-0 midway through the opening stanza on a power play goal by Milan Gajic.

The Huskies tied the contest 49 seconds into the second period on a goal by Jason Guerriero.

David Moss put U-M back ahead when he double-deked Huskies goalie Keni Gibson at the 5:37 mark.

But a pair of power play goals would put Northeastern back on top to stay.

Just after the first penalty of a two-man advantage expired for the Huskies, Josh Robertson deflected a shot by Brian Swiniarski to tie the game at 9:31.

Then Guerriero notched his second goal of the period, this time on the power play with 4:01 remaining to put the Huskies ahead 3-2.

Donny Grover would ice the game with a goal from the blueline with about a minute left in regulation.

The Wolverines outshot the Huskies somewhere in the neighborhood of 45-35.

Definitely a lot of penalties, especially in the second period on Michigan where it seemed like the whistle was blowing every 30 seconds. The Wolverines had three men in the box at one point that eventually led to Northeastern's second goal.

Michigan and Boston University square off tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m. WTKA will carry the feed on tape-delay at 7 p.m. ET.
