The past few years Michigan has held a home-ice advantage when hosting the
NCAA regional. This year the Wolverines are going to get a taste of their
own medicine.
The NCAA brackets released this afternoon have the #2 seeded Wolverines
being shipped out to the Northeast Regional in Manchester, New Hampshire,
hosted by the University of New Hampshire. Their first round
opponent? The University of New Hampshire. Let the conspiracy theories
begin! Afterall, former MSU head coach Ron Mason was a part of the
selection committee and the #3 seeded Spartans are heading to Grand
Rapids. I believe another person from Denver University may have been part
of the selection committee as well, and he holds a grudge against Michigan
after Denver (I believe they were ranked #1 in the nation, too) got shipped
to Yost Ice Arena a few years back for the regionals and lost to the
Wolverines. Okay, enough of all that stuff...what goes around, comes
around I guess, and that's the committee's decision, so live with it.
Here are the brackets:
East Regional - Albany, New York
#1 Maine vs. #4 Harvard - March 26 - 5pm ET
#2 Ohio State vs. #3 Wisconsin - March 26 - 8:30pm ET
Northeast Regional - Manchester, New Hampshire
#1 Boston College vs. #4 Niagara - March 27 - Noon ET
#2 Michigan vs. #3 New Hampshire - March 27 - 3:30pm ET
West Regional - Colorado Springs, CO
#1 North Dakota vs. #4 Holy Cross - March 26 - 7:30 ET
#2 Denver vs. #3 Miami - March 26 - 11pm ET
Midwest Regional - Grand Rapids, MI

#2 Minnesota-Duluth vs. #3 Michigan State - March 27 - 3:30pm ET

That's all for now...
Go Blue!
