SHOUNEYIA, ROEMENSKY SIGN ON WITH THE ECHL
August 13, 2003
Two of Michigan's graduating class have landed themselves in the East Coast Hockey League.
Two weeks ago former U-M forward John Shouneyia signed with the Florida Everblades. An assistant captain his senior year, Shouneyia registered seven goals and a team-high 28 assists in 37 games. His 111 career assists ranks 11th all-time at Michigan.
"John is a highly skilled, young forward who has a strong character and leadership ability," said head coach Gerry Fleming. "His competitive nature and playmaking ability will no doubt be an asset to our hockey club."
And two days ago defenseman Mike Roemensky became the first player to sign a contract with the Columbia Inferno for the 2003-04 season.
"Mike will add depth to our line-up and by all accounts I expect him to come in and compete for playing time," said Columbia head coach Scott White. "He has been a part of a winning program at Michigan and those intangibles are vitally important as we re-took for 2003-04."

Also a reminder that now that the alumni games have come and gone, the next big event of the summer is the Dekers Club's annual picnic. This year's event takes place Sunday, September 14. I'll work on getting a location (I'm guessing Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter again) and exact time. Come out, have lunch, and meet the team. If you're not a Dekers member, it's never too late to join. Head to http://www.umich.edu/~dekers for more information.

That's all for now...
