Thanks to Gary Blakely for turning me on to this list and while I'm not necessarily into ultralight camping or cycling, I do tend to keep the weight as low as possible. I'm of the opinion that most everything weighs more than the money it takes to buy it so why drag it along. I used to deliver airplanes all over the world and I limited myself to no more than 20 pounds of luggage in a combination backpack/suitcase. With what I carried, I could usually go for a week without having to find a laundry.
I've done a fair amount of backpacking and have climbed 7 of the 14,000+ foot mountains in the US. That leaves me a long way from doing all 52 to become a true 14er. I've also done a fair amount of airplane camping as well as bikepacking.
I have a website with all sorts of stuff on it about the various things that have occupied my time and life. I'm a freelance writer and photographer and many of the stories were magazine articles at one time or another. One group of them about growing up on a small Texas ranch during the depression days was put together in a book which can be read on line, printed out or downloaded as a file. It's called The Day The Mules Went Crazy. This will get you there, scroll down to the book. Be my guest, http://www.jimforeman.com/Books/book_menu.htm
