I see some post of people cycling then backpacking
reports on the
alt.rec.hiking newsgroups. I lurk around different
groups. This one is particularly interesting due to
the fact they are lightweight backpacking so alot of
good information is available here as well. Promoting
this group around the net could stir up some activity,
and new people.
