Ultralight sleeping - Adventure Medical Thermo-Lite Bivy?   Message List

Re: [ultralightbiking] Ultralight sleeping - Adventure Medical Thermo-Lite Bivy?

From the I-might-as-well-packed-a-garbage-bag department:

I used it during the 2006 GDR race after having used in successfully on a backpacking trip.  Maybe it was the Montana nights, but I ended up waking up wet half of the time.  I would never recommend relying on this in the field for anything more than an emergency shelter.  Its shape is also ideal for cutting open to make a simple lean-to (but then again, so is a trash bag).

Just curious if anyone has used this item as part/all of their
sleeping arrangement. I konw it's intended as an emergency only
shelter but it got a decent write up in Backpacking some time back.
Could be used in place of a sleeping bag in warmer temps it seems.
