Re: [ultralightbiking] Water?

Hwy 50 in Nevada and some more desolate roads in Utah and Colorado. No
dirt if I can help it. Yeah a concern was bursting with the Platys but
not only do I not want to carry water on my back but could you even
contemplate 6L (two 3L Platys) of water in a Camelback?

road? I've had a 3L Platypus water bag burst on me on the GDMBR after about 2
weeks of use last summer, but I can't think of any better way to carry water,
other than a CamelBack system but I don't like to carry water on my back.

Looks like the longest stretch between towns on Hwy 50 is between Eureka and Ruth, about 75 miles. If you want to carry 8 liters you could take two 3L platys...

If you turn it sideways with the seams of the bottle lining up with the frame of the bike, it should fit better without protruding too much.  You should be...
