Clayton-
The Rohloff site lists the current model at 1,700 grams. The Nexus I
have is the SG 7R46 which lists at 1,465g, but mine does not have the
brake so it is even lighter. Mostly what you would expect with the
Rohloff being more heavy-duty & more gears.
I should have clarified the efficiency statement- the Rohloff isn't as
good (as far as I can tell, couldn't read the IHPVA report) when lots
of gears are engaged. An unfortunate sidelight of having the many
ratios and wide spread.
The Rohloff certainly is reliable, and backed up with good customer
service. The only problems I've heard of are some early seals weren't
the best but Rohloff made good on switching them out.
Now if only they could bring the price down to half what it is now and
be more available.... oh well.
Thanks for replying and the links.
