Wassup my ultralight biking homies?
Jeff here. Just Checking in. I saw Gary's note and thought I would let everyone
in on what's happening with Carousel Design Works.
I've been spending more time in the shop lately.
I'm working on some snow biking designs with GDR '07 winner and record
holder, Jay Petervary and others. I'm developing some bags for general
snowbiking and some special bags specifically for Jay's 1100 mile ride to
Nome next February in the '08 Iditasport.
I've got some other top secret ideas I'm cooking up too......stay tuned
I haven't really been trying to promote business much for fear of taking on too
much, but I've recently changed my employment situation to allow me to
commit more time to building bike gear. Now, instead of managing the local
custom tent and awning company for a day job, I'm a bartender at a wine bar
at night. Fun stuff. This way I have my days free to commit to building gear.
I'll
be stepping it up soon.
I have a new email for business purposes: jeff@...
......or I can be reached at (209)532-3012
I much prefer the dialogue encouraged by answering questions on the phone.
Here is some information I send out to folks interested in the gear I make, so
y'all can get an idea of what I'm currently offering:
A full set of bags (frame, handlebar, and seat) can run $180 and up,
depending on options.
Frame bags are custom and can be made from a pattern you make and mail
to me.
I can make frame bags that fill the whole front triangle, or frame bags for use
with bottle cages. I can also make frame bags for some suspension designs.
Prices range from $50- $200
Some options I offer for frame bags are:
-multiple compartments/removable dividers
-fabric choices
-zipper options
-carry handle
-front taper
-stretch gussets
-external pockets
-external webbing lash strips
-hand fitted full wrap velcro attachments
I can make handlebar bags in diameters from 5" and up.
Prices range from $50- $120.
Options include:
-fabric choices
-mesh or fabric pockets
-attachment options
-single or dual-ended roll top closures
I make 3 different sizes of seat bags.
Prices range from $80- $150.
All the seat bags I make are tuned for ultralight touring. They are designed to
carry lightweight/compressible contents that conform to the shape of the bag
and help provide it with structure when fully loaded. Its not to say that you
can't carry other items in the bag, but that is the way I designed them.
The small size tucks under the seat more. It is my recommended bag for
technical terrain touring and ultralight road touring.
The medium is taller and protrudes behind the seat further. It is my
recommended bag for on and off road touring in less demanding terrain.
The large size is huge and is designed for snow biking and expedition
touring.
Options include:
-fabric choices
-stow bungee
-top lid/draw string or roll-top closure
-blinky attachment
-padded collar (for use with a hike-a-bike pad system)
I also make:
- custom handlebar-top map cases
-snack/stash packs
-stuff sacks
-ditty bags.
All gear is custom made to order.
My turn around time can range from 2-6 weeks, depending on order volume.
I'll let you know how long I think it will take when you are ready to order.
A receipt of deposit for half of the order cost initiates the build process.
I hope that helps.
Give me a call or send me a message and we can work out the details.
