I did an over-nighter over Thanksgiving weekend. I wanted to test out
my legs for long-mileage days, and see how well I do carrying a
sleeping bag, warm clothes, food and water, without the benefit of a
panier, backpack or trailer. I worked out really well. It was the first
time I've carried a sleeping bag without panniers, simply by strapping
it to the aero bars. I ended up biking 147 miles the first day and 170
miles the second day. I carried all my food (3 lbs of walnuts,
cashews, raisins, salt) and resupplied only with water along the way.
