Re: [ultralightbiking] How to get out more?

I'm ashamed to admit I only did one bike trip and one backpack all summer.  I rode tons and did a lot of car camping but not nearly enough overnight self contained trips.  I think my new years resolution will be to do a lot more next year.  We were so busy doing everything but camping I just never made it happen.  I don't have any tips for you Mac, as far as the SO goes.  Maybe tell her getting out is important to you and it's not something you do often, it's something you need for your mental well being.

Here's a link to a great photo essay and narrative of a trip in South America.  Not ultra-light but the photos are worth checking out, IMO.  It's long, wait till you have some time.

John, thanks for the link to Jeff Boatman's new stuff.  Jeff, if you're still here can you keep us posted on new developments as they happen?  Thanks!

If anyone else has or runs across any interesting links to trip reports please forward them.

Gary

John's message about things having been quiet on the list lately had me thinking about the fact that I've had nothing to report (I've pretty much only been a lurker here anyway, but largely due to having nothing to report).

I spent most of the summer planning out this multi-day singletrack epic that never ended up happening.  Between work and family and mending the house and all of that sort of business, it seems like I don't go sleep in the woods very often.

Can anybody offer up any tricks or tips on how to make the time/find the time/convince a non-adventuring partner that it's time well spent?

mac
