Frostbite Era Begins
Glens Falls, NY – After registering over 2,500
individual votes North Country hockey fans have
spoken, it was announced today by Barry Melrose on
behalf of Glens Falls Professional Hockey LLC. Moving
forward, the United Hockey League team calling the
Glens Falls Civic Center home will be known as the
Adirondack Frostbite. The nickname beat out six other
candidates including Attack by only four percentage
points. Final voting results are as follows:
Adirondack Frostbite 29%
Adirondack Attack 25%
Adirondack Axemen 19%
Adirondack Red Hawks 10%
Adirondack Mulleteers 9%
Adirondack IceHawks 7%
Adirondack Spelunkers 1%
The logo for the Frostbite features a fearsome hockey
playing polar bear fighting through snow and wind and
was designed and registered by Keith Flynn of
Flynnagain Productions, 1241 Mississauga Road,
Mississauga, Ontario Canada L5H 2J1. His phone is

previously designed the award winning logo of the

Voting for the Name the Team Sweepstakes began on
April 10th with over 3,000 entries being submitted
during the first round. On May 1st the list was
narrowed down to the six finalists. Hockey fans had
one month to choose their favorite nickname from the
six with voting limited to one entry per person.
Ballots boxes were located at Team Reardon McDonald’s,
most branches of the Glens Falls National Bank and
Tropical Fitness. Ballots were also in the Post Star
and online at www.adirondackhockey.com.
Out of the 2,500 ballots casted in phase two of the
contest, fifty states and territories including Guam
and Washington D.C. were represented. Arkansas and
Hawaii did not have any votes. Entries came from
across the globe as well, from the United States,
Canada and eleven other countries including New
Zeeland, Peru, Spain and South Korea.
The grand prize winner, determined by a random draw of
all entries from both phases of the sweepstakes, will
receive a personalized tour for two of the ESPN
broadcast headquarters in Bristol, CT, personally
escorted by Barry Melrose and Steve Levy.
In conjunction with the new nickname the Frostbite has
launched a new team website. www.frostbitehockey.com.
New features on the site include community, history
and kid’s page sections. The website also has a
message board where Frostbite fans can chat with each
other about their team.
Season Tickets for the 2004-05 season are on sale now
at the Frostbite front office located at the Glen
Street entrance of the Glens Falls Civic Center.
