Beacons' bus problems cause hour delay
Adirondack IceHawks Press Release
Glens Falls, NY – After the Beacons scored the first
goal, the IceHawks came back with five unanswered and
went on to win 5-1. The game started an hour late due
to bus problems the Beacons had, but it did not slow
down the IceHawks offense. Sylvain Cloutier had three
points including two goals, while Hugo Belanger and
James Desmarais each had two points apiece. The
IceHawks did most of their scoring in the second
period with two goals, and on the power play, with two
goals as well. The IceHawks are now 5-6-3 on the
season, while Port Huron is 6-6-1.
Port Huron opened up an early 1-0 lead when Ken Fels
got lose in front of the net and shot the puck past
IceHawks goalie Scott Dickie, the only blunder he had
all night. The IceHawks tied up the game later in the
period where on the power play Belanger took a slap
shot from the blue line. Beacons’ goalie Stu Dunn made
the initial saves, but the rebound came loose and
Cloutier knocked it home.
The IceHawks broke out for three goals in the second
period. It all started with Cloutier’s second goal of
the night. He took a slap shot from the far side of
the ice and got it past Dunn. Frank Littlejohn had the
second goal of the period. Cloutier won a face off in
the Beacons end and left the puck for Littlejohn.
Frank skated in on Dunn and beat him to the near side
to give the IceHawks a 3-1 advantage. Jason Vermeulen
made the game 4-1 when he took a beautiful feed in
front of the net from Darren McLachlan. It was
Vermeulen’s second goal in two games.
In the third period the scoring settled down while the
fighting slightly increased. The lone goal was scored
on the power play, by Adirondack’s Ladislav Kouba.
Instead two fights broke out between the IceHawks Jeff
Ewasko and Port Huron’s Casey Harris and one between
IceHawks’ newcomer R.C Lyke and Beacons’ David Bell.
Two of the fights were only separated by one second.
The IceHawks are in action again tomorrow night at
home against the Flint Generals. Game time is set for
7:35. It is Carey Insurance and Molson Red Leaf night
and great seats are still available. Tomorrow is also
a post game skate, where after the game fans can skate
with the IceHawks and get autographs. Tickets are on
sale now at the Glens Falls Civic Center or by calling
