ST. CHARLES, MO - Head coach/director of hockey operations Lonnie
Loach of the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League (UHL)
announced today that third-year defenseman Tony White has been signed
for the 2003-2004 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
White, who had nine points (2g, 7a) in just 35 games in 2002-03, will
make his return this year to the Family Arena and the River Otters.
White is a 6-foot tall, 185-pound, 25-year-old from Levack,
Ontario. "I am looking forward to another year here," White said. "I
know we have a good core of guys coming back, and I hear great things
about the new guys. I just can't wait for us to get out there and put
things together." He spends his free time helping his brother Ben
coach youth hockey with the St. Peters Spirit Central States Pee Wee
Hockey Team, and has made a home here in Missouri.
White, who posted 17 points (3g, 14a) in 67 games with the River
Otters in 2001-02 as a rookie and was tied for second with Missouri
in plus/minus (+10) that year. In 2000-2001, White's initial
professional season was cut short by a knee injury, as he competed in
just 20 games with the Amarillo Rattlers of the Western Professional
Hockey League (WPHL).
White collected 27 points (8g, 19a) in 111 career games with NCAA
Division I Merrimack College (Hockey East). He led the team in
defensemen scoring during his senior year with 13 points (5g, 8a).
The Missouri River Otters open their new season on October 24th.
Former River Otters coach Mark Reeds, and his Kalamazoo Wings, comes
to town to take on his former captain and new River Otters head coach
